| Do they look at your marks in the 9th grade? By the way, the 9th grade is your first year of education of secondary school in Canada. |

| University/college, I'm not sure what you call it in America. Secondary school is high school in Canada. |

| Wait, let's say I have an 85 average in the 9th grade but a 97.5 average in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade, will that ruin my chances of getting accepted? |

| Everyone state in the US is virtually different when it comes to marks. Some stats still have junior highschool (7,8,9) and senior highschool (10, 11, 12). US Education is not a localized thing nor is it a government type thing. Every state has different curriculums. Colleges NORMALLY(not always true) look at 9th-12th grade grades, ACT, and SAT. |

the 85 is going to be averaged in with your 97.5 and is going to lower your GPA that colleges see when you apply |

This statement is to generalized, according to your GPA it will be fine because the 97.5 would average out to a 94.4. We use GPAs (grade point average) so for every class you take you get a certain grade. These grades are As, Bs, Cs, etc. some states specify and some dont (NC just takes As and Bs, I think texas takes your exact grade). These are than averaged into a point scale (As - 4 Bs - 3 Cs - 2 Ds- 1). This point scale makes your GPA. |

| Texafy, my dreams of education are ruined. This is so dumb, why do they care about your grades as a 13 year old? |

most schools use a GPA system here but very simply no i doubt any university except the ivy league schools would care if your freshman year wasn't perfect
UC schools (which are some of the best in the nation and the world) don't even factor your freshman grades into their GPA. they look at your grades but usually ignore low grades unless they're REALLY bad

| If you have an unweighted gpa lower than 3.9 dont even bother. Stanford is arguably a top 5 most competitive school in the WORLD. |

People acting like they are admission officers lol.
Everyday i hear "Don't apply man, you don't have the grades", "Don't apply, you don't have the EC", "Don't apply, you don't have high enough scores". The college process is highly subjective and they will select anyone they want. You have nothing to lose by applying and they can either accept you or reject you. Stop listening to stats saying you have x amount of chance of getting in with these scores. #Fthesystem, go with your gut. |

because it's stanford. you could probably get into a really good school with those grades but they're nothing exceptional, which is what stanford (and ivy leagues) want. you could have perfect grades and you would probably still be rejected because at that point the only thing that differentiates applicants is their extracurriculars.

Normally school in the US automatically do it, but it depends on the level of education.
If there are three tiers in canada than u do 4 5 6, 6 being the best 4 being general.
In the US we have 3 levels; General, Honors, AP/IB/etc.
General: A-4 B-3 C-2 D-1 Honors: A-5 B-4 C-3 D-2 AP/IB/etc.: A-6 B-5 C-4 D-3 |
