If you were making a 2D game, the D button would make you go forward.

@Eslerp That doesn't even make sense. Controls can be whatever you want. Limiting yourself to "D" is extremely narrow-minded. Besides, what is forward, anyway? Any direction can be "forward", it depends on where the character is facing. Maybe in this game, the OP's characters will be moving "down" in the 2D sense. It doesn't "have to be D" or anything like that.

If your doing a standard 2D platformer, and "forward" is to the right of your screen, then it would make sense to have "D" to make you go right. I didn't say it had to be that way.

@Eslerp You didn't say it would make sense. You said that it would be "D". Forward also isn't always to the right of your screen, it's wherever the character is facing, it's relative. Your post didn't make any sense and was unhelpful because the OP clearly said that "S" would be forward for their game.

who cares what button it is, why the hell is that even an argument the OP says "S", so it will be "S" because it's his not yours.
Anyways OP to answer you, this forum is actually meant for people to get help with their scripting problems or ask scripting questions. It's not really meant for you to ask or hire people to script for you.
But anyways, what you could do is when they press "S" just move them forward (assuming you have a position variable stored, you would increment their "backward/forward" component and then when you render it you'd render it based on their position) |

He did help, somebody brought up that forward could also mean "D" as well and Aethex corrected him, helpful I must say.
If anything Eslerp's personality should be the one you hate, I specified the forward key was S(left) and he argued. |

Thank you Flux_Capacitor - an actual response to the issue, though I have no idea whatsoever how to do those things as a beginner coder I may be able to find a tutorial for other methods.

Are you doing this on Roblox (and maybe using a GUI for your 2D game) or off of Roblox?

You're making a 2D game without GUIs? Are you talking about one of those side-scroller things? I mean, you could disable movement and then make S do something like MoveTo on the Humanoid to make them walk there. You could also do something like use a BodyPosition/BodyVelocity, but MoveTo is your better bet.

All I meant was normally, on a 2D platformer, "Right" would be forward, and usually, you would use the "D" key to right. I really don't care if you use the "S" key to go forward. I don't care if you used the number nine to go forward. I was just saying if "Forward" was "right", you would normally use the "D" key to go in that direction, because that's what most 2D games use.

Forward is the direction your facing in, you can't argue with that.
