my mom wants me to, and i don't want to. its too much work and too much stress. im really scared, and i know ill fail. ill take some honors, but definitely not in english or history. those are the subjects i struggle with, and with honors, ill be in for failed grades and crying every night.
im stressing out about this since all i hear about anymore is school starting and stuff. so i really want to email the counselor to tell them to change my schedule, especially before school starts.
how can i convince my mom to just let me take regular english and history? |

Ask the counselor if you can have what you want?

well if your a freshman/soph dont worry that much you will only have 1 or 2 hours of homework a night including studying. not really that much stress

| i have to tell my parents first, cause they'll get really mad if i went behind their backs. plus the counselor will probably need parent permission in order to change too. |

i mean what i would do is try it out, and if it doesnt work talk to your counselor.
though honor classes aren't that difficult, you just have to be willing to sacrifice like an hour of your day for homework. in the end though, it's worth it.
but yeah, it's your call. i struggle with math yet here i am taking honors algebra 2 next year. it sounds so cliche but it really does just take effort and if you get stuck, ask questions. |

my cousin who is really smart didn't take honors english and he has gotten a full scholarship and got into a really good college, plus he has a 4.5 gpa and graduated in the top 10.
in all honesty, it's my school career. not my mom's. so i should do what i feel is right. and i know that changing to regular will save me the stress and get me better grades. |

trying it out will cause too much stress
that's when everyone will want to get their schedules changed, and you pretty much have no chance and ill be stuck there.
so what im saying is i should switch now and save the drama. |

if the stress is what is scaring you away from honors, you're worrying too much over nothing. try it and if it doesnt work, dont do it.
you'll find plenty of stories like "oh well i didnt go to college, i didnt take honors, but im a millionaire!" but dont just not take it because you assume it'll happen to you too.
idk about your schools, but for me honors are literally just more work, same content. it isn't like a super advanced class or anything, its just extra assignments here and there. |

if your choosing video games > school i understand why you don't want to take honors.
because that is a really stupid decision. |

I'm starting 6th grade off with all honors, I had that same stress before but just go ahead and try :)
You might fail or succeed, but it's basically worth trying for because they'll help you, I know it :)
So try and just keep trying! You're very lucky to get in honors!
