Both are excellent games. However i think the Atmosphere, story and soundtrack of HL2 makes it a much better game than Halo 2.
Halo 2 is good, but probably not the best in the Halo series. That would go to, in my opinion, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 3. Halo: CE and Reach are excellent also. |

You mean ''Murican hero in a powersuit saves da univers by blowing stuff up''?
-Russians aren't even human. Think about it: what other country has people who live in areas that are cold and inhospitable? Canada. And as we all know, Canadians are just sentient snowmen. Therefore, Russians are buff snow people.- |

@lolwa
The same can be said about HL2.
However, Halo 2 has a rich and interesting story. It just isn't all exposition and thrown in your face. (You need to have some sort of a brain to understand it)
I have played both Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 multiple times, and I can concur that Halo 2 carries a much better story.
First off, Halo 2 isn't a blow everything up murica heck yeah game. Anyone that has played it would know that the game is centralized around the Arbiter, not the Master Chief. While the Master Chief and Arbiter do have the same amount of playable missions, the Arbiter does have more gameplay and story overall.
As for the story of Halo 2, it is very exciting and fleshes out the character much more than in the original Halo: CE. As we learn more about the Prophet of Truth, fleetmaster Rtas, how arrogant and childish the Prophet of Regret is, and it also shows us that the covenant is more like humans than we thought, and not just a giant alien empire that is bent on the destruction of humanity. We also learn a great deal about the flood (a parasite that came close to destroying humanity, and pretty much started the current events of Halo) and the Gravemind.
Now could take much longer for talk about Halo 2's story, but it would take me much longer to make a post that you probably will get bored of and won't read anyway. |

| I would also like to mention that the Master Chief did not blow anything major up besides a Scarab tank that was destroying New Mombassa in the first few missions. |

Halo 2
The ai in that game was really good (at high difficulties) and not just unfair like most "difficult" games *COUGH* DARK SOULS *COUGH*
Half life 2 is ok, but the game wasn't all that impressive :\

| Do you realize that the only reason you can say its not impressive is because it was at its time? People always underestimate how amazing that game was in 2004.... |

@night As much as I like Halo 2, there is a lot of unfair bs happening in that game in higher difficulties. |

| Halo 2 all the way, HL2 isn't as great as people say it is. The level design gets stale after the train station levels and even with hard mode on the game is still super easy. |

| Halo 2 was alright, I wan't too fond of the arbiter missions, they felt much longer than the Master Chief missions too me, maybe I'm wrong though. |

| Depends on what you like, I guess. I own most of all the Halo games but I would prefer to play Half-Life 2 rather than Halo 2. |
