I don't know, the reveals didn't feel as strong due to the fact that you could read the synopsis of the story on the back of the book. Not to mention, without a soundtrack, the post-apocalyptic bombshell that was dropped in the first manga didn't feel quite as strong.
The anime gave you a happy, moe opening, bright music, and then finished its first episode with a haunting piano medley and a bloody conclusion. The manga didn't have that same impact to it.
I also love how the anime made minor alterations to its opening to make it more and more disturbing as the plot escalated.
On another note, the manga also included some minor characters that really didn't seem to affect the story at all. I feel like the anime knew what should and shouldn't have been cut.
My only complaint is that the manga moves the story further than the anime does, but I hope someday the anime receives a season 2 to correct this fault.

The soundtrack tugged heartstrings. It's not the manga's fault for not having a soundtrack, but this just kind of put the anime ahead of the game.

"I don't know, the reveals didn't feel as strong due to the fact that you could read the synopsis of the story on the back of the book."
I probably wouldn't have watched or read it if I didn't know it was a zombie survival though, and that goes for a lot of people
"Not to mention, without a soundtrack, the post-apocalyptic bombshell that was dropped in the first manga didn't feel quite as strong."
won't deny that. the atmosphere and ost were both really well done
"The anime gave you a happy, moe opening, bright music, and then finished its first episode with a haunting piano medley and a bloody conclusion. The manga didn't have that same impact to it."
my primary problem with it is that the whole zombie thing takes a backseat to yuki's mental state, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it kind of goes back to being a typical club slice of life most of the time immediately after the first episode. it's not bad by any stretch, but regardless I liked the manga better

touko appearing post credits in the last episode was a pretty strong suggestion that there will be, but it'll be a while before there's enough source material for a second season |

"I probably wouldn't have watched or read it if I didn't know it was a zombie survival though, and that goes for a lot of people"
I like it more as a form of deception, though.
I watched the anime thinking it was an average slice-of-life show, only to be shown that it was a psychological horror. Deception like this is amazing when you actually feel it.
If it was just a regular "post-apocalyptic zombie anime", it would sort of just blend in with the crowd. The way it tricks its audience is what makes School-Live so special. I'm not saying I would have completely ditched it if it was advertised as a zombie anime, but it wouldn't stand out quite as much.
It's quite similar to Himouto's ED. It depicts four pretty girls in a slice-of-life setting moving around to a cute song, but when you actually watch the show, it's just this little hamster girl pigging out and playing video games.
