pretty far if you build it get an i5/i7 and a gtx 970/980 with 16gb of ram and a ssd you will be able to play alot of stuff on high/ultra with 60+frames
|

use i5-6600k then overclock it gtx 1060

$1000 will easily get you far if spent just right...
GTX 980 Ti = ~$400 16 GB DDR3 RAM = ~$70 1 TB HDD = ~$50 Intel i7 6700K = ~$350 550 Watt PSU = ~$60
Other stuff like cases and the motherboard are up to you, but these are what I suggest since it is within your budget...
Total : ~$930 + other stuff

"16gb of ram is useless tbh" not for people like me who use a ton of ram, in fact, i'm planning to get 32gb in the future (i do a lot of rendering/image editing at very high resolutions/programming and i have many programs open at once so more ram is better

you'll get a 1060 or RX 480 and an i5 6400/6600k depending on where you go and how you price yourself.
Basically a decent VR capable rig. |
