We will start where i started in 2012-2013.
Those were simpler times. the events were great and the community not as toxic and rude. It wasn't made of 6 year olds who came just because of danTDM and are complaining about not being able to afford his t-shirt.
It wasn't filled with mindless rp games made only to make cash. Sure they were free modeled and poor quality, but at least the t-shirts(Not game passes) were only 30 tickets.
Simpler times.
Not everyone dressed the same. no boys were wearing tokyo and bae shirts. no girls where wearing shirts that where showing more than enough skin for a kids game.
Oh yes. The people. You could argue that the community was more toxic back then than it is now, but i disagree. Back then people acted mature and typed in complete sentences. The worst you would see are the rich guys who only care about their RAP(Thoose are still arround btw)
To Prove my point a while back I saw a game called adopt and raise a cute baby. It was by KingPaulyD, now known as KingAndrewK. I saw him at trade hangout with a RAP well over a million all because of his mindless and awful game that he "Made" if you can say that. 2013 also had the price floor witch was awful.
2014 changed alot of things. Noobs looked different, New sit layouts nearly every day, everything was changing all the time. But the worst had to be the events. Every event you knew and loved was either bad or mediocre, or worse sponsored. People became more and more toxic, devs became more and more money hungry thanks to the new DevEx. Games became less original. We saw the rise of the murder genre which is larger than any other game genre now. Every game had to copy a formula. Spend less time, sell, sell, sell.
2015-2016 These two year are what i like to call "The Dark Ages" Because so much changed for the worse. Thankfully we saw the rules change in spam games, The Games that change titles every day. Not much happened in 2015 besides even more murder games, and even more greedy devs. It wasnt all bad though. We saw many great games come to light and a few rise from the dead. Two examples are phantom forces and Work at a Pizza Place. then we get to 2016.
2016 is special because what i like to call "The Youtube uprising" happened.
Hundreds of roblox youtubers exist now and they are VERY VERY large. (ex. Denis, GuavaJuice, etc.)I never liked theese channels and i didnt see the appeal. they either play a roblox game and phoned in reactions pathetically, or roleplay in phoned in reactions pathetically. We also saw the rise of "The Tycoon age" Where every 3-5 days a new tycoon came out on the front page for a few days, then a new one came. this is still happening today.
In conclusion roblox has been a large part of my life since i was 9, and to see it fall and crash over 3 and a half years upsets me a bit.
Im concerned of what will happen next.
Thank you for your time, AmazonianTrolaman

Very well put together thread, but all I'm asking is... why?
Why post this? You're not going to change anything. The community spiraling into hell is not something that could be fixed by ROBLOX itself. It's just a consequence of the site moving on.
Every day I see at least one of these pessimistic threads. I'm aware that it's hard not to be pessimistic, but maybe try to stay... kind of... optimistic.
No, the admins don't give a damn what we think or whether we're happy, as long as the mindless hordes continue generating cash. But it seems pointless to dwell constantly on the past, and it honestly feels like that's just making the community even more toxic.

| I don't know why people think old roblox was good even thought that we have had the most players right now and back then there were alot of bugs and glitches that made my experience boring also people only remember the good stuff about the old times not the bad stuff like hackers and od'ers every where back then also the community is the same as now so shut up about old roblox being good. |

Before someone says "oh, but you joined in 2014," here's my original account:
(Just search up Punctim if you care, the ROBLOX filter is pretty terrible.)
Anyways, 2013 was a pretty lame year. I wouldn't say it was as awful as it seems now, but it was still pretty toxic. The only reason you think it was better was because you've got a feeling of nostalgia about it.
Outfits progressed with society. As far as I'm concerned, BAE, TOKYO, and any other design that has an "online dater" label slapped onto it wasn't really considered fashionable in 2012- but then again, I don't remember much of what anyone really wore in 2012. As designs like that become more popular, ROBLOX clothing designers feel more inclined to make them, either because they personally prefer the design, or their customers prefer them.
The toxicity of the community was not based on how people spoke on a virtual game, either. u can talk like this and still b mature, dude. Like I said- it's a game. People type differently. It's alright.
Moving on to games, people play what they enjoy. Developers make what people enjoy. If someone uses free models to create their game and people still play it because it's enjoyable, who cares? They're free models. Models available for you to use that are free. If you don't like a game because you think there was no effort put into it, you don't have to play it.
Now let's talk about 2014. Honestly, I much prefer the new site layout over the older ones. Change is fine, especially when it's for the better. We can't always reminisce about the simplicity of everything in earlier years- because as technology moves on, so will games. Things are going to be more advanced, and that's alright. Games becoming less original is inevitable. As more and more people think up new things, it's harder to come up with a creative idea that hasn't been used yet. And while it still is entirely possible to come up with an original game, some people prefer what they've been playing for years now. Lastly, greed is pretty much hard-wired into most people's brains by now- especially in the world we've been living in where more = better. I like money and I'm sure you like money. Whether it's in a virtual game or not, people like money. People will do whatever is easiest to make money- and yes, copying someone's game and adding a few twists to it is an easy way to make money, especially if people enjoy the game.
It's the same with the games that you mentioned when speaking about 2015. Copy, change, publish, earn.
Lastly- 2016. YouTubers made videos about ROBLOX. There was an appeal to ROBLOX videos, thus, more YouTubers made videos about ROBLOX. Because of that, there was an appeal to ROBLOX videos, thus, more YouTubers made videos about ROBLOX. And because of that, there was an appeal to ROBLOX videos, thus, more YouTubers made videos about ROBLOX. Viewers of those channels that had not played ROBLOX before that found the game appealing are obviously going to make accounts and flood the website. Tycoons are fun.
