| You don't have to read what I'm about to say although it will be appreciated but please give me your thoughts on this topic below. So I got a pc awhile back and my friends recommended G2A. I've been using it ever since and the only problem I've had is my credit card company shutting down my credit card because they didn't know it was me buying codes. But I've recently done some research wondering how these codes are so cheap. I saw all the stuff about the stolen credit cards I didn't really blink but when I heard indie developers were losing thousands of dollars because of charge backs I felt a bit bad. Some people might argue that developers charge way to much for there games but to be fair it's their game and they can charge a million dollars if they'd like. My question is do you guys use G2A and are there any good alternatives? |

First off, most of the "indie" developers are your ENEMY. They are akin to Huge Corporations. Greed plagues them. Most don't care about the Consumers at ALL. Recent example: Chucklefish. Made ANOTHER Game when they already had a Game in Early Access then released it in a Horrible state and then they were done with it.
Anyway, there's no need to Feel sad is what I'm saying. They do all they can for Money, ignoring their customers, and they likely have a lot of Money anyway.

| I wouldn't buy from G2A, especially if you are buying a game made by a small team. It really hinders their profits. |

Ignore Tnt, he's a troll. You should never use G2A.
"It really hinders their profits."
Worse than that. They tend to actively lose thousands of dollars from scammers and the like. |

I don't want to feed Tnt's trolling but yes, I should say why to avoid G2A.
The thing is, the key sellers can acquire their keys in any way-- tricking the devs, scamming them, or worst of all, doing a chargeback, which causes the devs to not only lose a sale but also lose some extra money. Imagine this happening en masse: Devs losing keys, losing money and losing sales. In some cases, keys actually cost money to produce.
Not all sellers are bad people, but even then, it's better to buy from the developer. Spend an extra few dollars just to make sure it goes straight to them, instead of risking giving your money to an evil person who is literally stealing money from the developer.
Also, G2A itself is not a very good company. If you want to be safe from getting useless keys, you have to sign up for their "shield" program which should not be necessary at all. And when you do sign up, you have to give them lots of personal info, which I really wouldn't recommend. |

@storm the amount of crap in that post is https://youtu.be/Gg5SwyTvAHw?t=52s
1. this does happen sometimes i will admit but it doesn't happen to a point where developers close their doors forever just because they lost money to the consumer
i've never seen a company close because of piracy
2. i'm not going to spend up to 5 times as much on a game just because developers neglect to put the game on sale
seriously
i bought skyrim legendary for $10, if it was still $20 like it was 3 months ago i would've bought it, but they hiked the prices up to $40 and i ain't paying $40 on a near 5 year old game
3. you don't need the shield you can chargeback through paypal if you got a bad key it's a horrible idea to pay through anything online that's not paypal |

They aren't "Neglecting" to put it on sale, they have in the past, and that is how it is on G2A. This is like saying "Wow this shirt is $100. Why are the retailers so ignorant and leave it at 75% off forever so I can get it for cheaper." |

" this does happen sometimes i will admit but it doesn't happen to a point where developers close their doors forever just because they lost money to the consumer"
I don't have a huge moral issue with buying secondhand triple-A games, but I think it's pretty clear that what I was talking about was INDIE devs, not big corporations. Look above in the thread. I was responding to someone about indie devs in particular.
"i've never seen a company close because of piracy"
No, but when you have a small team it can really hurt sales. If it's a small team, the sales are probably paying for their everyday needs.
"i'm not going to spend up to 5 times as much on a game just because developers neglect to put the game on sale"
Almost every game goes on sale during the Steam sales. Why can't you just be patient, or if you can't wait, buy the game for more?
"i bought skyrim legendary"
Again, I was talking about indie devs. Bethesda is pretty scummy though.
"you don't need the shield"
Fair enough, but you're supporting G2A regardless. They are a bad company. You should not buy from them.

G2A is a user controlled market. any problems that may occur in buying codes is at the fault of the seller and the buyer, not the site itself. You buy products at your own risk, however if you pay a small fee of 1$ for G2A shield you can reduce your chances of getting scammed, or even completely negate them.
I don't feel bad about buying from G2A because most of the prices on the site are the same as you would get from a steam sale |
