Starbound released in its current Abysmal State because of ONE single and simple reason:
They wanted to cash in on the No Man's Sky excitement. There is no way to deny This, and it was a Good Move for getting money as well... for Consumers, not so much considerign Starbound has no content and is worse than the Beta version. Fact is, Stardew Valley is Chucklefish's Game now. Starbound was always something Secondary, and they wanted to Get it over with by Releasing it at this PERFECT time, making sure that they get a Huge Boost in buyers.
They got their Money, while the Consumers didn't get anything they were Promised, of course. As is the Norm for Early Access games... When will Steam do ANYTHING? Not anytime soon. Valve is an Immensely Anti-Consumer company. Extreme Greed plagues it, and they know they can Get away with it Considering they're a monopoly. The sooner it goes under, the better. I'd advise you all to hope that Origin destroys Steam ASAP unless you want to see More games like Starbound.

may i just say, Tnt, it seems like you hate every good game. I mean, yeah sure. The two games are similar, but exploring planets isn't a new game idea. Like I said before. Starbound was being made years before No Man's Sky was even released. And sure, perhaps it was a good idea to release it now. But who cares, it's a fun game, I hope you understand Valve is a company.

That is not what I have said. Let me break it down.
No Man's Sky is a game that a lot of People are excited for. With Starbound seemingly being so Similar, releasing it now, Before No Man's Sky would obviously Increase the sales even more. I'm not calling it a Ripoff, I am saying That Starbound was released in its horrible state because of the reasons I have listed and due to greed. |

oh, my bad I thought it was one of THOSE posts. Well I see what you're saying. I feel like the game was mostly released so people wouldn't complain any further. The game still has a long way to go, but right now they really just wanted to release it, and I don't think it has anything to do with No Man's Sky.

That entire wall of text sounds like something a fascist would say.
-Russians aren't even human. Think about it: what other country has people who live in areas that are cold and inhospitable? Canada. And as we all know, Canadians are just sentient snowmen. Therefore, Russians are buff snow people.- |

''while the Consumers didn't get anything they were Promised,''
They got a proceedurally generated space explorating game with various mechanics like fighting or colonizing, thats what they paid for.

@lolwa: No. The things promised are More than that. For instance, the constant "We Don't want to give you a Half-Made game" to Justify the horribly slow and Stagnant Development turned out to be a big fat lie. The game has Less content than Beta, funnily enough, and is actually CHEAPER. The much-advertised "be whoever you want to" thing is simply Non Existent, as I said before, because you are forced to be A good army guy that Wants to save the Universe. These are just a few off my mind
