In the Kingdom of Jerusalem, it is important to know who is who, what they do, how much power they hold and how to address them. This guide should put away any doubts.
❖▬▬▬▬▬【 Hierarchy 】▬▬▬▬▬❖
King of Jerusalem: The King is the leader of the Kingdom. His word is law.
Bailiff: The bailiff (or bailli) administered the kingdom in the absence or minority of the king, in the capacity of a regent.
Duke: He is rich and an important person for the Kingdom, he leads and command many regions of the Kingdom.
Bishop: He is an ordained or consecrated member of the Christian clergy who is generally entrusted with a position of authority and oversight.
Count: He leads a County and is a vassal of Jerusalem.
Viscount: He was appointed to assist the counts in their running of the province, and often took on judicial responsibility.
Baron: He leads a Barony and is a subvassal of Jerusalem.
Vavasour: A vavasour was the vassal or tenant of a baron, one who held his tenancy under a baron, and who also had tenants under him.
Clergyman: The clergy is the church sect of the Kingdom for low-clergy. They deserve respect and loyalty.
Knight: The survival of the Crusader States depends almost entirely on their military capabilities, and as such all vassals, under 60 years of age are expected to serve mounted and fully armed whenever summoned by the King of Jerusalem. These Knights are protected by mail armour and are armed with lances for charging and an axe for when combat is up close and personal.
Gentleman: A Gentleman did born into a noble house.
Yeoman: A Yeoman owns and cultivates his own wealthy estate.
Thane: A Thane is granted their holdings from their lord because of satisfactory military service.
Freeman: A Freeman is a citizen who bought their holdings with their own money and is in debt to nobody.
Villein: A citizen who gained their holdings through services for their lord and is in debt to that lord.
Peasant: A low tier citizen who has more freedom to do what they wish. These citizens can join the military as a Levy.
Serf: A citizen of the lowest tier, these citizens work all day every day in their lord's fields. These citizens can join the military as a Levy.
Immigrant: A traveller who has arrived to the kingdom, awaiting his/her rank.

When talking to people in Jerusalem, you need to address them correctly, or risk offending them.

Comte | Baron+: Mon Seigneur
Chevalier+: Monsieur
Women: Madame
You address all others by either their rank [OBS: JUST SQUIRE(-)]. |
