if teams with terrible attendance even when successful like florida and arizona aren't relocated yet, why would LV be relocated?

They're only going to support the team for one year and then give up completely. |

| I'm not saying they should put a team there, but I'm saying the NHL will give them more than 5 years unless absolutely no one attends |

What makes you think a city of 600,000 isn't going to support it's first and only professional sports team?
I question if you guys are stupid or not sometimes. Even if they don't actually like hockey in Las Vegas, they know that other leagues will be watching to see how successful the team is, and if they are successful, that will put them in the conversation for other sports leagues, like MLS and the NFL that have considered Las Vegas. |

Rune Phoenix has around the 2 million metro and struggle to support a decent team There's no way in hell Vegas will succeed when the novelty wears off |

Columbus has nothing in notable pro sports except the Blue Jackets and the Crew.
Blue Jackets regularly finish bottom 5 in attendance, and it's not at all helped by the fact that it's extremely rare for them to make the playoffs. Since they completely bottled their first round of the NHL draft this year and don't seem to be in any discussions with relevant players, that's not going to change anytime soon.
The Crew are Bottom 5 in MLS attendance as well at the moment, which is hilarious because it's still higher than their NHL average attendance. The Crew's attendance has stayed constant for the past three years which have had significantly more success than the early half of the decade, so I'd say that slightly under 17,000 (which they haven't exceeded since 2002) will be their peak average attendance.
And we all know that Las Vegas is an even worse market for both sports. |

Literally has nothing to do with my statement so I'm not going to bother responding
"Columbus has nothing in notable pro sports except the Blue Jackets and the Crew."
There's something called Ohio State University. Whether it's pro or not is irrelevant. It's still there and is well supported. UNLV isn't Ohio State or anywhere near it, so the two can't be compared. Las Vegas literally has no options for sports.
"And we all know that Las Vegas is an even worse market for both sports."
No you don't because they've never had a team in either before |

"Literally has nothing to do with my statement so I'm not going to bother responding" Actually it does, because Vegas is a small market compared to Phoenix, the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast league have an average attendance of 4,917 this year. Last year they averaged 4,834. Compare that with the Albuquerque Isotopes who averaged 8,000. This is a AAA team, the highest level Vegas has, and it gets just over half the attendance of Albuquerque.
That's a darn good indicator that Vegas isn't a sports city. look for yourself http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?y=2016&t=l_att&lid=112

Are you absolutely sure Las Vegas hasn't had a team in either sport before?
Because they had an ECHL team which flopped pretty badly. It's minor league but it still counts. Especially when you consider that the Atlanta area, a market that's basically an inside joke among NHL fans for being a horrible market for hockey, had a team in the exact same league which beat Las Vegas' average attendance in the Las Vegas team's final season.
Other markets that beat LV's attendance (which had increased three years in a row) that season:
Ontario, California (now an AHL market) Fort Wayne, Indiana Orlando, Florida Toledo, Ohio Evansville, Indiana (which just recently relocated to Owensboro, Kentucky) Loveland, Colorado Estero, Florida West Valley City, Utah Bakersfield, California (also became an AHL market) Stockton, California (also became an AHL market) Anchorage, Alaska |

| I think Las Vegas is going to grow as a sports city whether we like it or not. Look at the NFL. For all we know it could host a Super Bowl one day. |

"Phoenix has around the 2 million metro and struggle to support a decent team"
i'm pretty sure that has a lot to do with the stadium being in glendale. the harder a stadium is to access (especially time to reach it), the harder it is to get casual fans to go to games. i believe the senators and the (MLB) rays have the same issue with fans not being able to get to their stadiums easily.
