No, not at all. Pole shifts do happen, and they happen very often, but it's never overnight. Pole shifts take thousands of years to make any difference. As such, when there are no dramatic effects during the shift. At some point, the poles will completely flip (North becoming South, South becoming North), but you would definitely see it coming. They SHIFT, they don't flip.

Now, even if complete geomagnetic swaps do happen spontaneously (and there is some rough evidence to back this, but it's nothing to be worried about), we won't have a lot to worry about. Any extinction events tied to these swaps are hypothetical, and most of the evidence points in the direction of there being no MAJOR catastrophic outcomes. It would definitely mess with some polar-based electronics and some migrational species, but it's nothing that can't be corrected. A very small fraction of humanity would die, if any.
"Thanks, Dapper."
No problem. :^)
"love you dap"
LOVE YOU TOO, MAN.

And do you think Biblical prophecies have any more credibility? Do you know how many times we were supposed to all be wiped out by now? There have been hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of "Biblical prophecies" that haven't come true, especially ones regarding global extinction.

Yeah, compasses will be 180 degrees off. Some birds will experience huge drops in population too, because a lot of them rely on the current geomagnetic field to navigate.

| @Dapper We haven't discovered the whole thing about Earth yet, our predictions can be inaccurate. |

That is a definite possibility, and any reputable supporter of science would acknowledge that? Could we be wrong? Of course! That is always a possibility. However, I find more credibility in an ideology that is willing to admit its faults, rather than one that is rigid and unchanging in the face of new facts.

| I mean no one can predict if this Polar Shift can be disastrous or different from others, plus in todays world there is more BS humans have spread aka nuclear testing stuff idk if that relate but point is todays world is different from the old |

"how does the pole shift feel though??"
Usual minor geomagnetic pole fluctuations can't be felt at all. Our instruments can usually correct for those minor differences. From what we can tell, our magnetic North is heading toward Siberia. A total reversal won't be too different. There wouldn't be any major dramatic effects caused by it. Some of our instruments that rely on the geomagnetic field may be wacky, but it's nothing that can't be corrected for. The largest worry is the weakening of our geomagnetic field. It wouldn't go away entirely, but it would definitely be weaker. People usually throw in the idea of continental shifts due to the flipping of the poles. They couldn't be any more wrong about that. According to our geologic record, no major continental shift has occurred due to the poles reversing, and neither have any major world-wide disasters. We can confirm this with our fossil records. There is also no evidence in our geologic record that confirms pole reversal causes earthquakes. That is usually a major concern, but it doesn't happen. Earthquakes are, in part, caused by continental drift. And as we covered earlier, pole reversal does not cause any continental drift at all. We're always drifting and the pole reversal doesn't accelerate that. So yes, it is entirely possible that the poles can reverse. In fact, they most certainly will, but it will not be any time soon. Pole reversals take thousands, even tens of thousands of years to happen. The signs of an imminent pole reversal are showing, but we are only at the beginning. We have thousands of years ahead of us before the poles ever flip, and by that time, we would've already corrected for it. The absolute worst that could happen is certain migratory birds lose some population.
