More and more I see people that just want to recreate a game that already exists, even if it's free to play. Sometimes they don't even change the name of their game. Not only is it unethical it's illegal if they use the name of the game. That's not really what annoys me the most about it, mostly: why? Why not just make it your own style anyway? That's way easier than trying to recreate everything.

I never realized how much a particular ultra famous FPS on roblox was a copy of Battlefield until someone pointed it out to me. It's even more alarming to see that in their studio games you can see that they're directly copying DayZ now too. Same fire station, same school house, same gun mechanics. It's pretty obvious who I'm talking about if you go check the studio group, but I didn't name anything, so it's allowed! :)

And I'm not even talking about earning robux, at this point and a long time ago they could've made their own style game and it'd still be popular. Same goes for any other person creating games. I see in the game design forum all the time people specifically name games they're going to recreate (not very well either). It's such an unoriginal mentality 'round here.

Because creating ripoff games are much easier original games, and they bring in more cash.

It's more recognizable, but in the case of the people I mentioned creating the DayZ, not naming anyone, with their skill they could easily make their own unique style and make far more than a ripoff.

By the way replicating a game that already exists is usually harder and not as fun.

It's just sad to see even good devs stoop so low.

Because some games are better because they are modded
