What kind of psychology is it? Social psychology, criminal psychology, pediatric psychology, pathological psychology, etc. etc.? Or is it just psychology in general?
I'm DapperNarwhal, if that means anything. |

| Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a disorder where the effected individual cannot have stable relationships with others. These kinds of people often lash out on others and afflict self-harm. They have emotional instability and feelings of worthlessness. Treatments include talk therapy or sometimes medications. |

| Much of anything can mentally traumatize someone. Events like wars, a natural disaster, and accident, etc. Often it's known as PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder). |

Alright then, more detail.
Borderline Personality Disorder.
Borderline Personality Disorder was given it's name in the 1930's it's name means on the thin "border line" between neurosis and psychosis, though the condition is much more than that.
Traits:
Emotional instability These people are often misdiagnosed bipolar. They also have anger that is intense and seemingly inappropriate.
Patterns of self injurious behavior, and also impulsive choices around spending, drug and alcohol use, eating, shop lifting, etc.
Shifting identity BPD people often change their views, religion, friendships, values etc.
Frantic efforts to avoid abandonment BPD people have difficulty being alone and often experience boredom and emptiness. They often need others to be stable and present with dependence
Causes: BPD starts off with difficulty in attachment and not having that stability developmentally. BPD people then are not able to find that stability internally and live their lives grasping for this. They then do anything to avoid being abandoned, fit in, and feel loved and belonging. BPD people then are very sensitive, especially to relationship stress, fear of abandonment and rejection. Often times BPD is accompanied by an abuse/neglect history.
The treatment of BDP is Dialectical Behavioral therapy which is a set of skills designed to help BPD people manage their emotions, relationships and behavior.
Medications for the most part are not effective in manging BPD.
This is often a misdiagnosed and misunderstood disorder that occurs in about 2% of the population. Often times any woman with anger, dependence, or trauma history are often immediately considerred for this very complex and serious disorder.
Better?
