Not a very good title, I know. Please read the full post if you want to reply.
Alright, first of all, this will be a more serious/longer post. If you're not into these types of posts then I totally understand. Another thing I feel like mentioning is I'm not looking for attention or people to feel bad for me, I simply want to understand this better or maybe hear about similar experiences. Google searching this didn't help me much because this is a very particular case. I know this isn't the best place to post this, and I feel like I have to reiterate that many times because some people on here like to only provide that as a response. If you have any other places I can post this tell me. Don't give a direct link though is all I ask.
That all aside, yesterday I was doing typing tests. I do them a lot now, but I had a really bad experience. Now normally I have tons of anxiety during them, especially towards the end and I usually make several mistakes at the end beacuse of double-tapping a key or something like that but this experience really scared me. So in the middle of the test I was doing fairly well when all of a sudden I came to the realization that if I don't think over my actions then I can't do them and then I thought well if I can't think about breathing how can I breathe and then I thought about typing and then since I obviously type WAY too fast (140+ WPM) to think 'type a' 'type b', etc. etc. I just suddenly paniced because I came to the realization I wasn't thinking about anything and I couldn't control that. I have no idea why, but that caused me to have a panic attack and it really scared me. It took about a minute to calm myself down I'm pretty sure. I guess I felt really detached from my body but I don't know how to explain it better; as if my thought process is in control of my body but I am not is the best way to explain it.
Anyone else have any similar experiences? Any potential causes for this?
Again I know not everyone on OT is a medical expert, but I just don't know where to put this and I feel like I have to tell someone.

I know what you are talking about.
He feels like a puppet on strings because he doesn't control his thought process. |

I've felt that way only one time. I don't want to share publicly so pm or party me if you want to hear my experience

| You have a rare case of Psycho-Schizmo Anxietiouous, meaning your nerve connections are not entirely well strung through your thoraxial canal. For a modest hourly fee in Robux, I could help counsel you through this problem online. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociation_(psychology) maybe this(again this is only a guess)
personally i think it came from stress(i handle stress incredibly poorly and have occasionally had experiences somewhat similar to that) |

| This is only a problem if you can't control your anxiety. Psychologists call it dissociation. But seriously, you don't control your thoughts. You experience the thoughts that pop into your mind. |

I'm not one to say anything because I'm not a doctor or someone who specializes in psychology or anything, but I believe it's because typing has become natural to you. You've typed so much and in such repetition that the process you have to go through when you type out something like "hello" has been engraved in your subconscious, meaning that you know where the h, e, l and o keys are and when and how many times to press it to achieve your desired results.
Basically it's similar to how you know how to breath and digest without saying "Hey body, breath" or "Hey body, make sure to digest what I just ate, okay?" |

Sounds like you might have had a depersonalization episode, if it happens more constantly and for longer periods of time you should be concerned. Good luck, you should look up some more about depersonalization episodes and see if it sounds like what you went through. I'm sorry that this happened to you, but hopefully you'll find out what it is.

| It is really not an issue unless it impedes your life. Like if you had a panic attack behind the wheel you would be in big trouble. |

@Roadwormorsomething
You're clearly not a valid physician, seeing as you have not demonstrated very basic knowledge in a common mental-disorder. If you have ambitions of one day becoming a professional, I could tutor you online for a very modest amount. I offer the best value for a doctorate-level education. |

i've actually had the same problem with typing tests, you sometimes just loose your train of thought and begin to think what your doing since it's mostly just automatic
but why are you taking tests with 140+ wpm? mother of joseph that's unnecessary |

Sorry for late reply. I was kinda nervous to view the thread plus I got distracted a bit.
I'll reply one-at-a-time since I like doing things that way better.

Yes. I've had this experience many times but since it was with typing tests and the duration of the panic attack really surprised me.

Lol. I searched up "Pyscho-Schizmo Anxietiouous" and it doesn't exist, nice try though.

this happens to me all the time. nearly every night in between getting in bed and actually falling asleep. well ok not as severe as what you went through but i've had times where i just cower in a corner and just endure the disturbing thoughts that run through my head. usually when i'm in a public place i can control it better. but at home i just let myself go. get it over with. |
