No they don't livewire, Linus did a video about that and a 580 (I think) ran better than at release. And get a 1060, it has 980 performance for cheap.

yes it's powerful enough i'm still on a 770 2gb and it's enough for 'high' settings on most games, but not always max 960 and 770 are just about the same performance

the 1060 doesn't have the same performance as a 980, the 980 does preform better then the 1060. Also the jump between the 960 and the 1060 is 60 to 130 dollars more which he might not have. The best bet for 1080p 60fps for gaming on high settings is the r9 380x or rx 480.

| No, go for something like the 980 or 1080 if you want max settings on all recent games. However that GPU will run every game at at least medium. Even my GTX 750 ti, which is a lot less powerful then a 960, 980 or a 1080 is still able to play almost all games at minimum graphics settings. |

I'd just wait until the supply on 1060s or RX 480s catches up with the demand and get one of those. If you're buying new and not used, I'd definitely wait a month or so and get one of the new generation cards, just don't buy right now, because there's way too much demand and not enough supply, so there's a lot of price gouging at the moment.

| Even better, I recommend you just check out a site called game debate. You can compare the specs of graphics cards there and you check the minimum and recommended requirements to games. Also, there are plenty of games that are more demanding on graphics, such as the new DOOM remake and Forza Horizon. Either way you aren't going to be able to run every single game at max without spending quite a bit of money. Even then GPUs get outdated very quickly, and it will most likely only be a year or two until there is a game said GPU can't run at max. |

Doom isn't a remake. It's a whole new game to the sequal.

yeah but while most games are like a big mac; lots of meat and bread, GTA V is like a gourmet food; small-ish but covered in spices and herbs (in this case, postprocessing out the backdoor) |

while the 970 can do 1080p/60fps on any game, nearly all 970s seem to have coil whine, which you will NOT be refunded for and that's not something you want to deal with for all the years you have your graphics card
also not the same price

@BlackStrikeZ By remake, I mean reboot. DOOM is a completely separate game with a completely separate story from the other DOOM games, so I don't classify it as a sequel since it doesn't actually fit into the DOOM story line. |

| Oh yeah, and if you are still looking for a decent graphics card for cheap, the new 1060 is only $50 more($250) then most 970s, but it packs quite the punch and meets the recommended requirements for pretty much all the new games spare a couple of few. |
