| I don't think there is a good way unless you create your own custom chat system. |

You could use the GameProcessedEvent parameter of the InputBegan event of UserInputService to detect that.

Unless that would also cause GPE to be true... idk Even then what if it was a menu option they clicked |

If it's a key input and gameprocessedevent is true, they must be chatting..

GameProcessedEvent is only for input. If you need to know if they are typing regardless of input, you can use TextBoxFocused and TextBoxFocusReleased, and InputBegan/Ended have some things for detecting text boxes as well.
