Welcome to the Portuguese army. In this guide you will need to know the formations and commands along with understanding the rules of the army to become a soldier fit for the army. When you become a private, you have agreed to the rules of TKP and have committed to learning the rules and regulations of the army.

Table of Contents
I. Behavior of a Soldier
II. Army Formations
III. Commands
IV. Army Ranks
V. Proper Uniform

I. Behavior of a Soldier

A Soldier of the Portuguese army must always show the strictest discipline and hold a high level of respect for all ranks no matter how low or high a rank.
A soldier will refer to an officer as “Sir” or “Ma’am” and a higher enlisted rank as their rank. (i.e. Sergeant ____, Corporal ____)
A soldier will always follow the commands to the dot, no matter if you disagree with it or wish to do something else.
A soldier will not act like a moron in front of his peers or in front of civilians. That is forbidden unless you are told you may do otherwise, such as during special events that are hosted.
A soldier will not aim his weapon at anyone unless they have good reason. Such reasons to point weapons at people and/or fire are listed here:
• If the unauthorized person enters a restricted area.
• If the person attacks another soldier, civilian, or other person.
• If the person is acting recklessly with their own weapon, such as flailing their weapon around.
All other groups with an embassy do NOT have access to the fort unless they are considered an ally. If you are unsure of wether to give them access to restricted areas, ask a high rank. If they are unsure, check the groups allies or PM an HR. (Lieutenant Colonel+)
Soldiers are brothers. Treat each other that way.
If there is an issue, you will notify the nearest highest rank. Do not take the matters into your own hands. That may escalate the situation.
Every soldier will ignore taunting from civilians and enemies. If they escalate it to a high level, tell the nearest highest rank.

II. Army Formations

Rank- Shoulder to shoulder line. Should not be touching each other (holding hands)

File- Column, front to back. 1-2 stud spacing at all times. (No kissing necks)

Stagger- A zigzag line that is started from the commanding officer's side. The soldier nearest to the officer will step back a musket's length and wait for the next command.
Command: “Form Stagger!"

-Defensive formations-

Command: “Form Arrowhead!”

Square- Forming a square around an officer with no gaps. Used to defend from any cavalry attacks.
Command: “Form Square!”

Circle- Forming a circle around the officer. Leave no spaces between each soldier. Mainly used to guard the officer from any ambushes or whenever surrounded by the enemy.

IV. Army Ranks

If you're active within your current rank, it doesn't assure you a promotion. We may have no openings in the rank above yours, you may not be up to the next rank's standards, or we aren't happy with your attitude. Do not ask for a promotion. That will guarantee you not get one.

Fencible/ First enlisted rank (E-1). These soldiers have just enlisted in the army and have no say over situations. To become this rank, you must have the LR uniform.

Private (E-2) These soldiers are getting the hang of things and should know basic commands. They have no say over situations.

Lance Corporal/ (E-3) These soldiers are finished soldiers and should know all the commands and be able to take commands without question. They have no say over situations.

Sergeant Major/ (E-7) These soldiers are the highest enlisted ranks in the army. They are able to give better commands than any other enlisted ranks. These soldiers have the most amount of say of any enlisted rank.

Ensign/ (C) These are officers in training. After Sergeant major, you leave the enlisted ranks and you become an official officer in training. You will come out of this rank with full training as an officer.
