I recently looked through my Roblox Messages, and I discovered this new cancerous scamming; it was sent by one of my friends, and it reads:
"Since ROBLOX has recently become very popular, as a result many complaints say that the http://roblox.com website has become unacceptably slow. The report shows that the reason is that ROBLOX has a number of non-active members and, secondly, to many new ROBLOX members. We want to send this message to see whether you're an active member or not. If you're active, can you send this message to at least 10-15 users. Use the "Copy and Paste" to show that you are still active. Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks in, will be removed in order to get more space. Send this message to your friends to show me that you are still active, and do not want to be removed. - ROBLOX Administrators Send this to 10-15 friends or else your account will be deleted."
It is quite apparent that Roblox has grown a lot, but there is no way that Roblox is deleting its players nor would Roblox and its developers use such an absurd and stupid way to delete "non-active members".
The message is unconvincing at the first place, I have no idea why people would trust this scam and post it to others, telling them to re-post this as well. If this is really how Roblox manages its players, then most likely Roblox is heading to its own downfall.
So what Roblox would do if it is removing its inactive players? There are a few ways that Roblox could do it:
-Checking last log on time, if the player is inactive (i.e hadn't got on for a year) then it will be removed. -Sending a much more convincing message and just check if the player read it or not; players that hadn't read the message after a certain time will be removed. -Checking for suspicious account behavior(i.e sending messages to a lot of players, posting comments on a game they hadn't played, etc)
Also, to prevent http://roblox.com from being "unacceptably slow" with a lot of users on, Roblox Inc. can do:
-Increase server size. -Add "I'm not a bot" CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) on account making and/or forum/comment posts. -Locate and ban IP addresses of currently confirmed bot accounts.
From above, we can conclude that Roblox is not the one behind the message. Therefore, we ALL should not send this message to your friends and help stop the cancerous spam. Thank you. |

| I'm sorry that I hadn't researched much before posting this thread. It is fairly new for me; I'm therefore sorry that I posted misleading information and I am glad that you have corrected me on that point, thank you. |
