I'm trying to convert latitude and longitude of real earth points to x,y on roblox and trying to accurately simulate distance |

You won't be able to. the earth is round, and unless you're going to make your representation round on Roblox, it can't be done.

Or you could pretend the earth is flat.
I'm not making an entire earth, just a small town |

Oh. The "Accurately simulate distance" though kinda doesn't work with a flat earth, unless you position these towns in different locations than it would show on a map.

| I could probably draw a square around the town, then use the distance of the length and width of the square as max x and max y, then get the points within the square relative to point 0,0 of the square |

well the default speed of gravitational acceleration is 196.2 studs per second, and if you divide 9.81 into that it give 20 even, so 20 studs = 1 meter

The real question is why would you use latitude/longitude for a 'small town' xD
Just find a map and put a grid over it and use the grid to recreate the town. |

Because I don't know how to do that in google earth.
And I'm basing distance off appearance not based off physics |

You should just use galactic coordinates. I think they have 11 dimensions, but you don't need a few. (Unless you want to time travel, go to other dimensions, ...) |

The funniest thing is actually that when my main is banned the very people yelling "weewoo" here are taking my alts' posts seriously and usually can't even solve the problem I have (which isn't as much of a problem as an inquiry into how a hypothetical idea I have would go about being implemented)
it always makes me laugh when that happens |

'if you're doing it on Roblox, then it's not developing'
I was just going to ignore your idiocy, but when I read that I just felt the need to point it out.
Idiot Confirmed. |

warspy, sorry, maybe I'm mistaken -- how much have you made from DevEx??
You're no more of a developer than the 4th graders using scratch at my old elementary school.

| Saying we're not developers because we use roblox is like saying people who use Unity aren't developers. |

If you really think that developing on Roblox is the worst possible thing in the world, then get out and go do something that's not on Roblox, like making a real game, instead of trying to flame nine year olds on the internet. |

| ^ Games on roblox are 'real games' though. Just because you don't make money off of it doesn't make it a 'fake game' or 'imaginary game'. That doesn't even make sense xD |

| Well, by real games, I meant games that are not on Roblox, like Steam or Kongregate. I just used the wrong term is all. |

I never said they weren't games, it's just that the vast majority of the development process is already done for you.
The real challenge is creating an appealing idea and aesthetic building |

| If you're flaming us about building then your posts are off topic as well as flamebait. I recommend leaving the Scripters subforum and finding a subforum that cares |
