| I wish Arsalan Kazemi made the Sixers roster, he shocked me by being drafted in the 2nd round from Oregon/Iran and performing relatively well in the 2013(?) Summer League. Kazemi, Hamed Haddadi (played for Memphis and Phoenix a few years), and Samad Nikkhah Bahrami (played in China for a few years) are pretty much the only reason why Iran is relevant in world basketball. I wish Iran would produce some more talent good enough and willing to put in effort to come play NCAA basketball here in America and to get drafted |

I mean, they ARE #17 in the world.
They are relevant, they just aren't a fantastic team. Pretty sure the only team that can say that in this world is the United States. Sure, Argentina, Lithuania, France, Spain, and Serbia are great too, but teams further down the list like Australia, Croatia, Slovenia, China, Angola, and Iran are all good teams. |

"you're saying that like it's something to brag about it's not" Whatever lol you probably don't even follow international basketball outside of the Olympics anyway.
"no they're irrelevant" Quit giving that crap because by that logic there's only 3 relevant teams in the world |

"a top 5 team in the world would blow iran out of the water"
Right, that explains Iran's 5-point loss to France in the 2014 FIBA World Cup |

nobody does, because nobody cares, which makes it irrelevant
"Quit giving that crap because by that logic there's only 3 relevant teams in the world"
if you asked 200 people on the street to name an Iranian basketball player, 0 people could do it
there's about 8 good teams in the world, and that's it Iran has 0 players in the NBA they are not good |

"nobody does, because nobody cares, which makes it irrelevant" Yeah you probably don't care because you're an American fan who thinks "my team has got this every year," which is true, but this doesn't mean other people don't follow the sport. Again, quit that.
"if you asked 200 people on the street to name an Iranian basketball player, 0 people could do it" If you asked 200 people on the street to name a Lithuanian basketball player, 0 people could do it, and Lithuania is #3 in the world. Terrible logic.
"there's about 8 good teams in the world, and that's it Iran has 0 players in the NBA they are not good" You do realize you don't have to have every player on the squad in the NBA to be decent, right?
"the >wolves< could probably beat iran" Minnesota could probably beat every single team in the world outside the top 6. Basketball is not like soccer where there are 60-70+ national teams with multiple great athletes. The United States is stacked with talent. |

Like I said, the United States is stacked with talent. The United States is 10 steps ahead of the next best country in the world. |

"again, as rune said international basketball is irrelevant"
Because Americans choose to think it's irrelevant. Remove the United States and international basketball is extremely competitive. |

Who cares? We're not talking about people following the sport. We're talking about basketball fans caring about it. They don't and that makes it irrelevant
"If you asked 200 people on the street to name a Lithuanian basketball player, 0 people could do it, and Lithuania is #3 in the world. Terrible logic."
um, pretty sure the average NBA fan knows who Jonas Valanciunas and Donatas Motiejunas are
"You do realize you don't have to have every player on the squad in the NBA to be decent, right?"
I do realize that. If you have none, and the only few that have tried end up getting cut from the D-League, then that probably means you aren't good

So 80% of the sport's viewers think international basketball is irrelevant? Point proven |

"Who cares? We're not talking about people following the sport. We're talking about basketball fans caring about it. They don't and that makes it irrelevant" Holy crap. Once again, you act like the only basketball followers in the world are Americans.
"um, pretty sure the average NBA fan knows who Jonas Valanciunas and Donatas Motiejunas are" You told me "200 people on the street". Not "the average NBA fan". One or two out of 200 average NBA fans could probably actually name Hamed Haddadi (thanks to the Memphis color commentator lol).
"I do realize that. If you have none, and the only few that have tried end up getting cut from the D-League, then that probably means you aren't good" Getting cut from the D-League? Want to do some research on that? |

"Holy crap. Once again, you act like the only basketball followers in the world are Americans."
The very large majority of them are, so
"You told me "200 people on the street". Not "the average NBA fan". One or two out of 200 average NBA fans could probably actually name Hamed Haddadi (thanks to the Memphis color commentator lol)."
which still makes Iran irrelevant don't know why this is still a discussion
"Getting cut from the D-League? Want to do some research on that?"
no because i'm not wasting my time over a subject as obscure as Iranian basketball and the fact that their best players were only good enough for the D-League tells me all I need to know |
