I'd like to ask all scripture on here a question. How did you learn Lua?
How can I learn Lua from scratch. Could you provide me efficient ways and whatever you think is the best way for me to learn Lua. I'm interested in learning but do not know how to learn it. Could you give tips, advice, references? I don't know any Lua at all as of now. Where do I learn Lua?
Thank you for your time. |

I started around 6 years ago by taking apart free models and reverse engineering the code. I literally looked at every line, and figured out what it did using google and the wiki.
I would recommend taking Harvard's CS50 course for free online, if you want a good, in depth introduction to computer science though. It isn't Lua, but it will teach you a lot, most of which is used in every language. |

wiki is great and free models are great when you understand some stuff already, but starting from scratch, the best possible method in my opinion is watching roblox's "roblox university" videos on their youtube channel. Also googling and the wiki help, the wiki has examples you can base stuff off of.
>start with roblox u videos, there are videos for fps and racing >wiki has examples and some tutorials >googling and finding videos helps as well >free models |

There are a few great ways to start, the most obvious being the wiki. I personally began RBX.Lua about two years ago, and learned from a physical book about it.

You should join the Scripting Helpers website, dedicated to helping new scripters learn. I answered a question on the site the same as this. here's the link,
https://scriptinghelpers.org/questions/31612/how-long-did-it-take-you-to-learn-roblox-lua-on-your-own#34766
I went pretty in depth. |

| Took Telamon's uncopylocked game and messed with the scripts with some help from the wiki (when it used to be good) |

| I started by watching the few and only stickmasterluke scripting tutorial videos. I took a long break from scripting, rewatched them, and steadily grew after that. To this day, I still love stickmasterluke |
