I'm aware it removes skills, and has the voiced protagonist
but are those enough to make it bad? |

No it's not. The only criticism that I think is valid that I've heard from all these haters is the fact that the dialogue system is lackluster. (It is.)

It's something that would be better off if it were under a different title It's disappointing for what it is, and strays from everything the series originally was |

"isometric RPG"
RPG was at least continued in 3 and NV 4 has two strictly defined characters
The game is fine, but people wouldn't hate it the way they do if it were advertised as a different title |

it's a fine game sure it has it's downs (like why the hell are there only 4 options for dialogue, and why does it always mean something different) but it's a solid fallout game, lore-wise i mean i wouldn't replay it other than for the glorious BoS, but it was a fine experience |

"I'd say Fallout 4 is still an RPG."
Explain it though It's lacking so hard it really doesn't qualify It's FPS and not much more
There's not much you can pretend to be when the poor dialogue brings you back to the same things |

There's still progressive leveling, the perks are basically skills except streamlined and simplified, and the SPECIAL system is still there. There's also a lot of emphasis placed on the storyline and world exploration.
It's still an RPG game.

I still want to try out the Fallout series.
Don't even try to spoil the ending of Fallout 4 for me, I already know. |

I don't think perks makes the game any more of an rpg It's like saying CoD is an rpg because you can choose perks
And, the story is too railroaded in there, choosing sides doesn't add much to a roleplay I've tried to play the game as one, and trust me I have tried, in the end I'm always brought back to the options that remind me the character is already predetermined
Exploration doesn't make an rpg, that makes an adventure game |

But past Fallout games also required taking predetermined sides. In fact, it wasn't until 3 that you actually had even a little choice in how the story went, and even that wasn't very much. Really, New Vegas is the closest thing in the Fallout series to an open-ended storyline, and even it has a predetermined beginning and end.

Yes, it's even less of an RPG than Skyrim is, and Skyrim was barebones enough already.
Only good aspect of it is the improved shooting mechanics, but you should seriously just play New Vegas. |
