She DEFINITELY has a few tumors, I don't need a vet to tell me that. They're all along the mammary chain, which leads me to believe they're probably mammary tumors. I'm bringing her into the vet this Thursday to get them checked, because there's really no way I could ever tell if they're benign or malignant.
The fact that the tumors are slightly movable leads me to believe they're benign, though. They're also very small; barely bigger than an M&M. They don't seem to bother her at all either, so that's great news. They seem like glandular papillomas, but if they ARE benign, it's more likely that they're adenomas. Adenomas are typically glandular tumors, so it goes perfectly with the tumors being in her mammary glands.
If they're malignant, I don't think they've metastasized, meaning they haven't spread to tissues outside of her mammary glands. Her lymph nodes aren't swollen at all, so it most likely hasn't entered her lymphatic system (which is how cancers USUALLY metastasize.
Statistically, the chances of it being malignant are 50%. In dogs, the chances of benign and malignant mammary tumors is split right down the middle. Canine mammary cancer is typically very treatable though, even if it has already metastasized. My dog's only 8, and her breeds usually have a life expectancy of about 14 years. I'm sure she could handle any treatment she has to go through, the only problem is money.
So yeah. My dog could be sick.

"Hope, she gets better."
The thing is, her condition is great. She isn't lethargic, she's eating and drinking normally, she's not in pain, etc. etc. It's like she's not even sick at all. Dogs usually hide sickness to try to maintain their position in their pack, but there are some symptoms they just can't hide, and she isn't even showing those ones. Thank you though. :^)
"I hope your dog will be OK."
Yeah, I do too. She's been one of my best friends, man.
"Poor dog. Mine might die aswell as he has a few bumps. Still, I hope she'll be okay."
Bumps are common, especially in overweight dogs. They're usually just papillomas in dogs who are overweight, but dogs get adenomas all the time (which are benign tumors), so it could just be that.
"Hope she gets better (2)"
Thank you lots.

"I hope your dog doesn't have cancer."
I do too. It's very possible that she doesn't, so I'm sorta clinging onto that.
"Hope your dog gets to feel better"
She doesn't SEEM sick, but her condition could definitely decline if I don't get those tumors taken out. Thank you.
"hope ur companion gets better"
Thanks a bunch. :^) I do too, and the most I can do is make sure she gets the treatment she needs, and prepare for the worst.
"awww, i hope she isn't sick, however if your dog is sick start up a fund me page. everyone loves dogs ♥"
I've actually been looking at some crowdfunding sites for veterinary services, and they seem really really successful. That's something I'd definitely try if I needed to.

I probably will if the costs are too expensive. The initial diagnosis is very cheap, so I don't have to worry about. I'm only worried about the potential surgery and chemotherapy costs.
"What, how"
What do you mean how? How does she have cancer?
"I wish you the best of luck with you and your dog. I'm here to support you and hopefully the rest of OT can agree with that,"
Thank you, that really means a lot. I haven't ever had to deal with a major loss, and losing this dog would be the biggest loss I've ever had. I've had a grandparent die, but I was never really close to her, and I was very young when it happened. I'm already going through the stages of grief and my dog isn't even dead.

They don't get paid too poorly, it's something you should definitely pursue if you want to. It's a great field to get into if you love medicine and animals.

I've passed your message on to Sandy. She just stared at me blankly, but I think she gets it. Probably not, but probably.

I'm sure you haven't read my threads (and for good reason too, they're very long), but biology is definitely one of my favorite fields too. Biology's a really really huge umbrella though, and it includes all kinds of different sub-fields (like pathology, cytology, marine biology, etc. etc.), but I love all of it. You've made the right choice. :^)

Oh, I know, but it's always really good to know it regardless.

It's one of the greatest fields out there.
