This is a summary of the lore for Thvmys' roleplay game centering around the Last of Us.
PLEASE read this before roleplay, as it contains important information on locations and
enemies seen in-game.
Mankind has made great strides since a millennia-long struggle for basic survival. Advancements in fields such as technology, medicine, and art have made memories of a harsher time distant.
Now, humanity has been set back centuries thanks to a deadly outbreak of a mutated fungus, known as the Cordyceps. Originally found in South American insects and crops, this disease attacks its host's brain, afflicting the victim with violent and erratic behavior. There is no cure or treatment.
This horrific disease has evolved in order to infect humans. Here are the stages of the newly-christened Cordyceps Brain Infection as it progresses inside of a human.
Stage Zero: INFECTION. The host is infected, either through blood-to-blood contact with an Infected human(e.g. bites/scratches), or ingesting Infected crops.
Stage One: RUNNER. Within 48 hours of infection, the host will become increasingly violent. By the time the Infection reaches the two-day mark, the host will have lost its ability of intelligent thought and humanity all together. Now, its sole purpose is to spread the virus through blood-to-blood contact. (e.g., bites, scratches)
Stage Two: STALKER. After months of infection, the host will have large fungal growths sprouting over its face and limbs. Now a Stalker, the host becomes more capable, advanced enough to plan surprise attacks and use tactics like hit and runs to overcome their would-be victims.
Stage Three: CLICKER. After a year of Infection, the fungus controlling the host's brain will literally split its skull open, and the mushroom-like growths will cover the Infected's head. While this blinds the being, it also gives the host the peculiar ability of echolocation. Instead of howling like earlier stage Infected, it will make clicks that they will use to locate any prey on the move nearby.
Stage Four: BLOATER. Once a host of the CBI(C.ordyceps B.rain I.nfection) spends decades as a carrier, the fungus will have decimated the bodily system of the Infected human to the point that the fungal growths will have formed a sort of armor all over the flesh. Bloaters are especially difficult to kill thanks to their huge size and strength, which works well in conjunction with their fungal plating. Another ability of bloaters is their fungal explosives. They can rip off some of the fungal matter that layers their body, and toss it, which will release a huge cloud of virulent particles that can Infect another human being.
Stage Five: At some point, the fungus eating its way through the host's body will have nothing left to sustain it, and the carrier will die. If the corpse happens to be in a dark, enclosed space with plenty of moisture, the fungus will spread from the corpse into the surrounding environment, and will release what is known as "spores", heavy clouds of fungus-imbued particles that can infect survivors if they do not protect themselves with something along the lines of a gas mask.
This disease spreads across the globe, resulting in the infection/death of at least 60% of the world population. World civilization collapses, for the most part. 20 years after the initial outbreak, multiple survivor communities have sprouted in what remains of the once great United States of America. The military controls several "Quarantine Zones", which are walled-off centers of regime within the ruins of metropolis' all over the country.
The roleplay is centered in west Massachusetts, just outside of the once-state's capital Boston. Due to the time period and setting of the Last of Us, most firearms, clothings, buildings and really most of what was created pre-CBI isn't usable anymore. Larger survival groups (the Factions) are heavily-involved in producing their own weapons and resources. |

I am going to be honest here and tell you my opinion.
The last of us is probably one of the greatest games I have ever played story wise.
Making an in-game RP (Which mostly turns out to be ODers and 12 y/o's) wouldn't work as well as you think.
I do not think your Role Play could even begin to live up to it.
