Afternoon. I would first of all like to apologise if I posted this in the wrong area. :P
I'm looking to purchase a new PC that isn't too expensive but is decent enough to run ROBLOX smoothly, my current PC is old and used to run ROBLOX but now struggles to even run at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on what PC I should look out for?
Danke. |

| Do you reckon if I cleared my PC space up (delete a lot of crap that isn't used) it'd run slightly better? I could give you my specs if that helps once I have access to it. |

im not sure however my setup uses AMD FX-8350 (8 cores, 4.0 ghz cpu) and GTX 760 (pretty outdated model, i'd get a newer one if i were you) and 8gb of ram. not the best setup but runs most games at 60fps graphics level 10

If all your doing is ROBLOX, then an intel i5, 4 gb RAM and Intel HD 4000 or better would be perfect!

My specs are Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400
2GB of ram installed. :l
I'm no expert but I have a feeling that is bad. |

| That is quite bad. I'd be happy to help you find a new PC, what kind of price are you looking at? I need some sort of number. |

| @BoostCookie, RAM doesn't speed up the PC, it gives the user the ability to multitask using more programs. I don't see why anyone would get more than 16GB. |

@JoshRBX Yeah this computer is kinda ancient. :p
I'm not looking to go all out on a gaming PC, I would just like a decent computer with slightly better graphics. (I'm willing to spend around £300 for a desktop, is that a decent budget?) |

It's pretty old, but Roblox isn't a very intensive game. Even modern integrated GPUs are sufficient most of the time--someone told me they were getting 40 fps on 8 with an HD 4600 in Phantom Forces.
I'd say look for or build a machine with an i3-6100, 4+ GB of RAM (8 is best), and an SSD. No discrete graphics card necessary.

| I mean, if you want pure gaming performance. It's extremely important to general system responsiveness, though, because applications can load much faster compared to an HDD. |

@lava games rarely have that long loading times, so you'd be saving like 8 seconds and ROBLOX doesn't read/write much from the disk, it uses internet, so i'd spend the money on a better internet instead

| I'm talking about everyday use, not games. Ultimately it comes down to whether you can get an SSD with enough space in your price range, and how much you value "snappiness" versus having a lot of storage. |

i don't see how an SSD would speed up google chrome, email or watching a movie

An SSD is faster because it does not "scan" information like an HDD does.

I'm not wanting to go all out and I'm no expert on computers unfortunately. My internet is fast, it's just that this machine belongs with the dinosaur age!
I won't be all out gaming either. If I got a machine that could run ROBLOX decently then I'd be happy enough, however it will probably be a while until I actually do plan on making a purchase as I'll be saving up my wages. |

| When I come to think about it. I believe a laptop may be a good choice as well if I plan on moving out in a year or so (University), would a decent laptop run ROBLOX? I've tried it before and it's worked better than this piece of junk. |

What do you consider a decent laptop? How about model-specific?

Other than obviously making large reads and writes faster, the advantage of SSDs that matters the most is latency, which determines that "snappiness" I mentioned. Mainstream SATA HDDs like the Western Digital Black series have latency of around 12 ms. Mainstream SATA SSDs like the Samsung 850 EVO have latency of about 4-5 ms.
A few milliseconds may not seem like much, but consider that the drive spends that long doing nothing for *every individual request* sent to the disk. Note that disk requests are happening all the time, not just when you first open or save a file. The accumulated effect is that the OS and local content are subjectively more responsive than with a hard drive. |

@Frozen
So long as you get a modern non-Atom-based laptop Roblox should be playable. HD 520 or better can probably get you 60 fps on relatively high settings. |

What version of DirectX does your computer run on? It might not be above or exactly DirectX 9, do you also have a CPU that can clock to 1.6 GHZ? If not, is it a desktop or laptop, I need this info so i can tell what parts you can get. I suggest you get new graphics cards, more ram, and fast CPU that can clock over 1.6 GHZ, instead of just wasting alot of money buying a pre-built computer when you can just buy some parts for it for less.
