INDEX:
[A] Plot/Intro [B] Farindall's Geography [C] Skills & Professions [D] Races [E] Extras
[A] PLOT/INTRO:
Resting in the heart of the realm Travina, Farindall was birthplace of a rapidly growing movement late in the Fourth Age known as the Imperium. After a short decade of conquest, a vast majority of Travina and her nations were unified under the single banner of the Imperium, thus beginning Fifth Age, often referred to as the Imperial Age.
After unification under the Imperium banner, Travina knew the pleasures of peace and tranquility for over a century, with naught but small skirmishes exchanged between the Imperium Legion and neighboring nations not associated with the Imperium. This all changes, however, early in the year 5A 117, as Farindall is thrown into a torrent of chaos.
Bordering the eastern edge of Farindall, a sizable trade-town by the name of Kavakk disappears almost overnight as the city burst into flames. As the sun rose over Farindall on the 12th of Year's Birth, the city of Kavakk was already blanketed in a cloud of smoke with a large, demonic archway resting in the center of town. The Void Gate came without warning, as did the hundreds of Daenul creatures, that is, demonic denizens of the Burning Void.
It is now in the early weeks of Rain Fall, almost three months after the fall of Kavakk. The Imperium Legion has stationed a large garrison of soldiers outside Kavakk, keeping the Daenul inside... for now. The Void Gate continues spitting out Daenul nightmares summoned from the Burning Void, and with every passing day, the threat grows. Where did the Void Gate come from? Should we expect more, and where will be the next target? Can the forces of the Burning Void even be stopped?
[B] FARINDALL'S GEOGRAPHY
I'm not a cartographer, sorry if the map kind of sucks. [B.1] Map: http://postimg.org/image/pvwghdxgn/
[B.2] Cities: Faris – Capital of Farindall and, in theory, capital of Travina. Faris is a true testament to the strength of mankind, as many say they can see a gleam from the city's shining towers long before they catch sight of the city's walls. Being one of the largest cities of Travina, all major roads through Farindall were carefully plotted so as to stop through the capital.
Bravis – Having the largest trade dock in the Imperium, Bravis is a large economic supporter for the well-being of Farindall as a whole, many ships making stops at the trade port during travels across the Sapphire Sea.
Derues – Resting on the western edge of Farindall, Dereus once acted as a fortification against possible rebellion from neighboring Dustarn, though mankind quickly realized the nomadic nature of the Sosfur Elves and the castle lost use to the Imperium. Over the Ages, Dereus was populated by Sosfur Elves looking to find a new life out of the dusts, and grew into a significant sized city of commerce for Farindall.
Kavakk – Formerly named Kavash, the city was renamed in 5A 22 as a sign of good faith upon Blistrakk's joining of the Imperium. Once serving as a trade hub and welcome resting place for those traveling between Faris and Blistrakk, the city was attacked by the Burning Void late in the night on the 11th of Year's Birth. Today, Imperium soldiers maintain a tight watch upon the city, struggling to retake the city and, if possible, close the Void Gate within.
Northwatch (Unlabeled) – Lying on the northern border of Travina, the town was constructed in the Second Age by Vulpin refugees escaping Nisfur conquest. After abandonment in the Third Age, Human Imperials refurbished the remains and transformed it into a border-watch.
[B.3] Towns and Villages of note: (If you want to create a small vill
Findale – Resting on the edge of Lake Takara, the small town became flooded with refugees after the destruction of nearby Kavakk.
Fortune's Strand – With a cruelly ironic name, the small port-town is often home to smugglers and pirates on the run from Imperium Cruisers.
Eddin's Plains – A moderately sized farming community, the town was started primarily for providing the population of Derues with crops.
Vaenwood – Hidden away from the main road passing through Farindall's southern forests lies a rather large sized settlement of hunters, the pelts and furs they collect highly sought after in Faris, and throughout the Imperium.
[C] SKILLS & PROFESSIONS
When designing your character sheet, you will see two different sections asking for your character's skills, and their professions. These options will generally decide how your character approaches combat situations, as well as how you go about providing a helpful service to other participants you may run into. Please note that, while I will not be following an exact stat chart or anything, your skills and professions will slowly become more proficient through use. Throw enough fireballs and you'll be throwing meteors, ect. ect.
[C.1] Skills: +Desctruction Magic– Elemental magic making use of fire, frost and shock to weaken and eliminate enemies.
+Restoration Magic – Area of magical study that focuses on the betterment of your fellow comrade. Some restoration magic can prove deadly to undead and unholy creatures.
+Conjuration Magic – Area of magical study that focuses on the ability to open temporary portals to the Burning Void, summing denizens and items of the realm as aid.
+Alteration Magic – Area of magical study that focuses on the manipulation of the mortal world. This includes making beneficial changes to the wielder and allies, or causing mental anguish among foes.
+One-Handed Weaponry – Whether dual wielding or using a sword-and-shield, having this skill makes you more proficient when using small arms.
+Two-Handed Weaponry – The gruesome art of using over-sized weaponry, to devastating effect.
+Archery – Trained in the use of ranged weaponry, including bows and thrown weapons.
[C.2] Professions: +Blacksmith – The ability to sniff out mineral veins in the earth, and craft useful gear from them. +Enchanting – The ability to imbue weapons and armor with magical benefits. +Alchemy – The ability to make useful tonics and toxins using using the plant life of Travina. +Lockpicking – Sure, you can try just smashing the box open, but why risk ruining what's inside?
[D] RACES +Human (Imperial) – The majority of the Imperium's leadership, Imperial Humans are generally born close to Farindall, if not within the nation, and thus are treated as full citizens in most of Travina.
+Human (Velinid) – Believed to be the birthplace of humankind before their arrival on Travina's mainland, the island-nation of Velinis is home to a much different sect of humans known as the Velinid. Most natives on Velinis often make a living off the pillaging of trade ships on open water, causing even mainland-born Velinid to be often scorned by peers.
+Vulpin – Considered a strange sight in early ages, the natives of Plavana are best described as an odd mix between a fox and a human. Most Vulpin are treated with unease as many are known to take up more roguish lifestyles, having natural low-light vision.
+Wood Elf/Nisfur – Natives of Gleamvale, Wood Elves often make excellent archers and saboteurs as many are known to be able to make friends with nature.
+Drakkin – Natives of the craggy terrain of Blistrakk, Drakkin are similar to Vulpin in that they look more similar to that of a scaled dragon rather than man or elf. Many believe Drakkin are a distant relative to the fearsome dragon, though this would do little to explain their ability to breath underwater.
+Sun Elf/Sosfur – Natives to the desolate sand-wastes of Dustarn, Sosfur elves are often well-versed in the ways of Restoration magic, as life in Dustarn would be near impossible for many without a little help.
+Dark Elf/Dusfur – Dark Elves are a curiosity to many in Travina, as they only first appeared mainland in the Third Age. Finding a Dusfur Elf willing to speak of his original homeland is perhaps one of the rarest things in life.
Most, if not all of the Dusfur living in Travina enter the realm through Farindall's port of Bravis, and a large portion seem to be rather knowledgeable in areas of study and magic concerning Daenul and The Burning Void.
+Dwarf/Donin – A rare sight in Farindall, Dwarves are natives to the Ice-Maw Mountains of northern Travina, most Dwarves spend their entire lives beneath the surface in splendorous cities rarely seen by the outside world. Once a race of Elven descent, centuries of living underground have rendered a substantial loss in height, grown accustomed for smaller corridors.
Dwarves only first began emerging from the Ice-Maw Mountains early in the Third Age, much to the surprise of the Vulpin whom first encountered the race. It soon became common knowledge throughout Travina that Dwarves had a knack for trade, as well as a highly-held secrecy of their homeland.
[E] EXTRAS: Just extra information I didn't think necessary to have a category to itself.
[E.1] Calendar: Travina uses a traditional 12-month, 4-week calendar, though the names of each month may be a little different than ours. Jan. - Year's Birth Feb. - New Dawn Mar. - Frost Thaw Apr. - Rain Fall May – First Harvest Jun. - Mid Year July – Sun's Peak Aug. - New Life Sept. - Last Harvest Oct. - Sky Fall Nov. - Frost Fall Dec. - Last Dusk
OPENING:
Frost Thaw 18th, 5A 117
Whether it was out of desire to explore a land less desolate than Dustarn or simply to seek out employment as a mercenary, it wasn't long after crossing over the border and leaving the sands behind that you first saw a set of imposing walls growing in the distance. Derues... The city of new-life Sosfur elves. You were finally home. |

| (Should have been more careful than to just copy/paste... Ignore the Plot section where it mentions the date; I pushed it back since you're starting pretty much as far away from Kavakk as possible, haha.) |

For my reference: http://pastebin.com/BAMTevyS
It's good to be out of the heat of the sun. I'm sure to be back to doing mercenary work soon, but for now, I'm going to need time off to rest, relax, and try to make myself comfortable. I don't know if I'll be too successful in doing that, but I can try. Kicking the sand from my boots, I start to head towards Derues. |

Beginning to walk towards the city, you can't help but to glance around at all the open greenery surrounding the road. A sight impossible to find in your homeland, that's for sure. Breathing in the crisp morning air, you stroll casually until stopped by a guard in yellow and red armor.
"Hold." the soldier said rather casually, a fellow Sosfur by the accent heard through his helm. "First time in Derues and or Farindall in general?" |

It'll be easier to just say tell him I'm from here, but if I do, this guard may ask for papers or something of that sort. Better be honest. If he won't let me in, I'll just find a way to force my way in. "Yes, first time."

The guard looks over at a companion standing nearby before uttering a short sigh. Regarding you once more, he rests his forearm on the pommel of his blade; Not seeming to be interested in using it, but rather using the weapon as a rest.
"Purpose of visitation? Do you bode ill-will for the well being of the Imperium?" he asks, not sounding as if the answers were actually important to him. |

I wonder how often he has to ask these questions. He already seems bored by it. I don't blame him. I'm glad I'm not stuck with his job, though I'm not too sure mine is any better. Looking at my axe always brings back both good and bad memories. "No ill-will," I answer, "I'm here looking for work. I deal with bandit and creature infestations." |

The guardsman looks you up and down for a moment before nodding and waving you through. "You're cleared for entry; Enjoy your stay in Derues."
Leaving, you are free to continue through the large gateway and advance down what soon became a cobbled street. Looking to either side, you see a long series of stone buildings and dark passageways. Filling the streets were mostly Sosfur elves, with the occasional Imperial wandering the area.
Following the shouts of merchants harking their wares, you find yourself wandering down a small side street lined with small marketstall vendors. Ahead you can faintly see what appears to be the sign for a tavern, judging by the symbol of a mug. |

(Does my character have any money on him?)
People talk a lot in taverns, rarely about anything useful. Sometimes there's an exception. The tavern's probably my best place to get information right now. I might even be able to rent a room there when the sun falls. I turn away from the sound of the market and head inside the tavern. |

(You're a mercenary, for about 5 years in Dustarn or so? Let's say... 1,500 Crowns saved up. You won't be getting money for looting every single person and selling all their gear, but you can earn it nonetheless.)
Walking towards the sign, you read 'The Nomad's Oasis' on the entrance before entering. Upon pushing open the door, you are instead greeting with a wave of warmth and revelry match with the soft tunes of a Sosfur bard in the background.
Looking around, you can see a few empty booths as well as an empty stool at the general bar. Standing behind it was an Imperial female with a rag and mug in hand, appearing to be working out a spec from the mug's surface. |

What a fitting name. I head to the bar and take a seat on the empty stool, briefly taking a moment of time to look over the Imperial woman. "Something cold, please," I request. |

The woman looks at you for a moment and nods, reaching under the counter to pull out a bottle of red-tinted liquid. Showing you the label of what appeared to be a Farindain spiced wine, she proceed to pour a mug for you before re-corking and storing the bottle away.
As she held the mug, you notice her hand glow a faint sky-blue hue for a moment before she slid it to you. Catching the glass, you notice that it almost feels like solid ice in your hand. |

Must be using some form of ice-based magic. A cold drink is good relief from the desert, regardless of the source of its cool temperature. I take a sip from the mug. "How much do I owe you?" I ask the woman. |

"Ten Crowns for the first glass, five on each refill." she says, studying you for a moment as you sampled the mug. "So, you're a new face. Fresh out of Dustarn, I take it?" she asked, leaning an arm on the bar as she spoke to you. "How's the drink? We've got bottles of juniper berry and jazberry essences if you'd prefer." |

"The drink's fine," I assure the bartender as I take another sip. "Just made it out of Dustarn and got here a few minutes ago," I tell the woman. I wonder how often she gets visitors just coming from Dustarn. I doubt it's too uncommon. "Do you sell rooms for the night here?" I ask. |

She nods with a smile, pulling the bottle back out and setting it down a short distance from your mug. "Well then, allow me to welcome you to Farindall. If you're travels take you in the direction, you aught to see Faris; It's quite the city."
Stepping away for a moment, she fetches a fresh bottle for a patron on the other side of the bar table before returning to you, then giving you another quick nod. "Of course. We've got rooms upstairs, nothing too exotic, for 35 Crowns a night." |

| "I'll take a room for the night now, then. I need the rest," I say, handing over ten crowns for the drink, thirty-five for the room, and another ten as a tip. |

| The Imperial woman scoops up the coins and puts them away before then pointing you to the nearby set of stairs. "Third door on your left is open for use; I hope you enjoy your night." she says with a soft smile, a grateful curtsy coming from her as she separated the tip into her own pocket. |

| "Thanks," I say with a nod as I head off to the room the woman pointed out. Once inside, I close the door behind me and undress, separating my person from my armor. Soon after, I climb into bed and make myself comfortable as I drift off to sleep. |

(Forgot to post your currency count last time... Whoops.) [1,445 Crowns]
Frost Thaw 19th, 5A 117
Awaking shortly before midday, you can almost sense the change in mood as you look outside the window. For some peculiar reason, the general temperament of what were happy Sosfur Elves just yesterday were now replaced with more than a few somber looks, some cheeks clearly stained with tears.
Other than the people themselves, however, there doesn't seem to be any physical change around that you can notice. |

| Wonder what's made them upset. Maybe someone was stabbed in the streets. Wouldn't be the first time I've been in a settlement where that's happened. I take my time in getting out of bed and getting redressed. Once finished, I head out of my room and to the bar, looking to see if the woman from yesterday is there again. |

After gathering your equipment, you venture back down into the main room and glance over at the bar, spying a Sosfur male had taken her place. Looking up at you, he gives you a friendly nod as he wipes down the counter.
"Good evening to ya." he says courteously. |

Maybe she only works at night. That's probably it. "Evening," I say, taking a seat at the bar. "What do you have to eat here?" I ask the Sosfur bartender. |

| "We've got a fresh hog from Eddin's Plains from the other day, just got done smoking 'er this morning." he says, announcing it as though it were the tavern's special. "But if yer not in the mood for that' we've also some salted venison flanks and a potato stew going in the back." |

"I'll take a slice of the hog and some water," I say. I never like to start the day with alcohol. Once the bartender comes back with my breakfast, I ask the question on my mind. "What's got everyone upset outside?" |
