I'm not exactly what forum to post this on, I already have a thread on OT but I think this may get more attention here.
Super Smash Bros Chaos (SSBC for short) is an overhaul mod I am working on for super smash bros brawl.
--Introduction--
The mod aims to make a game far more fast and technical than melee/PM ever was or will be using new methods to speed up the game and adding more techs in the game. The abilities,moves, and atributes of the characters is greatly hyperbolic making each character feel unique even if they are a clone. Internet jokes and memes into the game. Finally it also will increases the games Roster and Stages.
--New Speed Ups--
1. 0.5 Invincibility time upon re-spawning. 2. 0.5 Hit-lag 3. Lagless Ledges 4. Generally most characters move and attack faster than before. 5. Fast Falling Speed is 70% Faster than normal. 6. After doing a mid air dodge, or using a recovery move, the players downward velocity will be there fast fall velocity.
--New Advanced Techs--
1. Hit stun will be increased to allow for combos. 2. Most walls can be wall jumped, allowing for better recoveries. 3. Using the Sheild will now stop characters on a dime, great for low friction characters such as Luigi, Marth, and Ice Climbers. 4. Dash Boosting, is a new tech exclusive for Chaos that can be done, to have a greater run speed. It can be preformed by continuously tapping left or right on the analog stick. 5. Crouching will produce 4 points of armor allowing to stop weak combos with out damaging your shield. (This will increase up to 8 on some characters).
--Chaos-- 1. Being able to re-spawn on your last stock with a final smash (Can Be disabled) 2. Hyperbolic attributes and moves on the characters. 3. Some characters will be made intentionally OP to be in their own tier bracket
--Roster-- The Roster and What games there moves will be based off of. (Some Characters in brawl and smash 4 are not included because either I don't have a moveset to make or work off of or I don't have any ideas for them.

--Aesthetics-- The game/mod's menu appearance and music will greatly resemble the appearance of that of a PC-98/Commodore 64 graphics. Stages and Characters will be marked for competitive play legality. Green = Legal/Balanced, Yellow = Counter Pick, Red = Banned/OP. Most Stages will have around 3/6 songs in them(Less than Wii U/Brawl but more than Melee/3DS). I will try to make a custom intro in SFM featuring the new comers and veterans.
--Release-- Due to the scale of the project and because I am only one man, this will take a while to be completed, however because I have a lot of source material that I really just need to compiled together and make a few changes to have a proof-of-concept build in about 1-2 months.
The Demo will likely have a smaller roster and stage selection than vanilla brawl, but it is just to show off what I want to do.
You will need either dolphin or a Wii/Wii U with the homebrew channel installed to be able to use it once I release the demo.
--Closing Notes-- As a reminder this is a very early WIP mod. Only bits and pieces of it are made and no working version exists right now. I just want to have my project out there so that people know it will be a thing. I just want people's opinions and suggestions.

Dash Boosting is Not dash dancing. It is a tech that I've invented, by modifying the moveset files. It used as a mobility assit, not for mind games. Its intention is used to make getting from one side of the stage to the other faster by tapping the anolog stick in the same direction. Basically how to run in MegaMan X or Mischeif Makers.
The only Anime character in this is Son Goku and he is a special case. The japanese names are all touhou characters. Touhou is a bullet hell shooter.
I can use rated M or popular characters if I want. Besides Solid Snake was in brawl and he is from a rated M game
The whole crouch to reduce damage and break combos is to spare having to use your shield. Crouching will block atracks that deal less than 3-4 damage. This is suposed to be an alternative method to dodging, countering, or sheilding.
The increased hit stun is to allow better combos. Due the high hitstun in Smash 64, its meta is all about using combos. So I wanted to bring that to here, but not have as much hitstun so that way preforming a combo is easyer, but not too easy where you will get zero to deathed every round.
I tried using hyperbolic instead of hyperbolized becuase my spell checker kept saying I spelled it wrong, and I just changed it to word that I thought would have a similar meaning. If you misunder stood what I was saying basically i am trying too mean, some moves and atributes will be exadgerated.
I know the smash engine has its limits. I am not really doing anything that would be beyond its limits. I never really said I want to saturate the pack with high polygon models or HD textures. The only real limit is the space on an SD card. |

Hit stun is the reason why smash 64 (or any other smash really) is not as popular as Melee.
Little skill is required because all you need is to remember a combo and you are golden.
With melee its a heck of alot easier to DI or tech out of combos and even counter attack with ease.

Melee suffers because of its rushed development.
1. Characters such as Yoshi and Game and Watch aren't really complete = yoshi's grab doesn't really work against most characters except for maybe bowser or donkey kong. While Game and Watch can't L-cancel.
2. Melee's lower tier characters just flat out suck and really just need to re-balcned to be made viable. (Mewtwo, Zelda, Ness, Bowser, Pichu, and Kirby).
3. The black hole glitch exists.
4. The meta game is really just made about exploiting glitches to your advantage. |

I will have to try it. But keep in mind hitstun and hit lag are two diffrent things.
Hit-lag- number of frames the game pauses to emphensize on the attack Hit-stun how long a character is stunned from an attack. Low hit stun pretty much will allow you to walk through attacks, while a high hitstun will allow you to preform complex combos. |

Also Sans and Undyen are good. They are not quite as cringey as Alphys or Gaster. Besides its only two characters out of 80. Regardless undertale is a good game that I wamt to include in my pack.
Sans would basically make Fox, look like Kirby, but be increadbly weak.
Undyne would just be one of the few intentionally OP characters, her downside would be mobility.
I have considered putting mettaton Ex in, but I lack a good moveset and a model in. |

then again it will be less skilled based since abnormally long hitstuns will make it impossible to escape combos even if you DI or tech.
It will all boil down to whoever lands the first hit. No more reads, no more mindgames and no more baiting.
Whats the point of fancy shmancy new techs and mechanics if they all become useless the second someone starts a combo?

No, I meant Sans would be a very technical character with a high learning curve having complicated moves and being able to use all advanced techs, but better with his downside being his low durability allowing him maybe to take up to 25%-35% average before he could get KOed.
I used the comparison with Fox since Fox was the most technical character in melee and kirby was the lowest on the tier list. I was not trying to imply kirby is a bad choice at all. |

Project Chaos will not be made to reflect the tier list in melee. And aside from the intentionally OP characters (Goku) the tier list will try to be balanced so that way no character feels obviously bad or good, just different.
On a side not. In order to 100% Melee you have to play as other characters. It is impossible to 100% with just kirby. You have to complete the target smash for all characters, classic mode for all characters, adventure mode for all characters.

| The intended OP characters are the exception. There intention is to have a 3v1 match where three players gang up on one OP character. They will be distinguished very specifically in two ways. 1. They will be on there own spot in the roster. 2. They will have a red out line on there selection box showing that they are banned in competitive play. (Fox and Metaknight will be re balanced so that way there are not in the OP tier bracket) |

Instead of making OP characters, use the handicap system from melee.
Melee's handicap system was the best, increasing both damage and resistance of the character, it's great for 3v1s (3 h3-h4's vs a h7) or even 7v1s. (7 h1's vs a h9) |
