Miner's Haven has a great map. That's the only thing "great" about it. It's boring, time consuming, and honestly feels like a mobile game.
To be fair, it's been a while since I've seen a tycoon done "right". Various roblox "tycoons" have surfaced over the years, when really you're just waiting for little bricks to go through a conveyor which for some reason gives you money (sound familiar?), so you can step on other bricks which build the tycoon for you. It's just a whole bunch of waiting. Those games suck. But Miner's Haven... oh no, Miner's Haven does it COMPLETELY differently (obvious sarcasm is obvious).
This time round, instead of building a military fortress or your own brand spanking new, top of the line mansion... you build a... brick dispensing factory?
You basically build a whole bunch of "mines" on a base plate, which generate different "ores", which go through conveyors, which go into "furnaces"... basically its a generic roblox tycoon game, except it's hiding behind the format of a REAL tycoon.
The mines (which really don't look like mines) are just massive metal arms which poop out little ores, the ores are just different colored bricks, and the furnaces are... little pools of lava? And somehow by throwing your "ores" into the lava, you get money... yep, straight up thousands of dollars for burning and destroying precious bricks.
It's trying to be a "cool" game by giving players different kinds of mines and furnaces and conveyors, but really, what's so "cool" about getting a rare brick dispenser, or a rare pool of lava which looks slightly less like a pool of lava.
And it's so much like a mobile game.
There are actually MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. No-one wants to wait on their PC for hours and hours just so they can burn enough bricks to get a "rare" conveyor belt, so of course, the guy adds MICRO-TRANSACTIONS to basically ruin the point of the game...
If this was a mobile game, something you could leave and come back to with tons of cash, it wouldn't be so bad... but it's not. If you leave the game, nothing changes from where you left off, so the game is basically just a waiting simulator...
It's also really slow and buggy to place things down. Its very fidgety and hard to control the placement of your brick dispensers, so overall, the game just doesn't cut it.
If you're thinking of trying this game... don't. Save your time and your dignity by playing a cooler game like Survivalist or Ripull's minigames.
And before you tell me the game was "just released", he isn't going to change the WHOLE concept of the game, the style of the brick dispensers, etc. He might be able to fix the glitchy placement, but other than that, the game is awful.
4/10 Still better than Roblox Dodegball

| Not to mention people can also shoot you, which is of course really annoying when you're trying to play any game not related in any way to guns... |

you expected alot from that game... that's disappointing between the overhype and the garbage ads i dont even want to play it
also the only reason why roblox dodgeball is bad is because of lack of content and lag. that gets fixed and added in the future so just wait

@SirDapper
I honestly expected very little from Miner's Haven. It was just so overhyped even before release that I knew it would immediately make front page and I needed to make a review about it to expose it for it's horrible gameplay. |

| Well, it WAS good that it was made by a group instead one person itself. I do have to agree with you though. |

Though I completely disagree with this review.
I've played it since it's release, with a 40-45 min break, and I've accumulated over 17k Player Points & $1.2B |

| So the game is basically a Tycoon with a Silver Gloss placed over it in order to hide the fact that's it's a very simple tycoon? |

It gets more interesting over 2k (I think) points, where you have actual strategy with limit-bound ore upgraders and larger ranger of furnace and miner types. Maximising income becomes something you can do as a challenge at this point; Balancing aspects of the system is something that has to be done well in order to prevent waiting too long - even with mathematics if you want to go tryhard.
Firstly you have to make sure the ore limit does not reach its maximum. Limit upgrades become impractically expensive very quickly, so they can't be solely used. Faster conveyor belts aid this as they get ore to the furnaces more quickly - reducing how densely packed the ore is on the belt. Worth mentioning shielded conveyors are essential in busy points. A secondary way of reducing ore count is to reduce the distance the ore has to travel for the same effect. Travel distance is something to be minimised in designs.
A third, more obvious approach for staying out ore limit would be to use slower, but higher ore worth miners. However, this gives us another factor to balance. Efficient ore upgrading machines have a upper limit for what value ore they can process. Of course it is out of reach when you only refine something once, but ideally you want to refine something up to the maximum before putting it into the furnace for maximum efficiency. Having a low ore count isn't ideal once you have a setup which is able to upgrade something to the upgrader's (or upgraders') limit.
That's one of the things you have to keep in balance explained. I could write more about maximising ore worth as well as the pros and cons of each miner/ furnace/ conveyor/ refiner type. |

The only tycoon I like to Pool Tycoon. But that's the closest I'll ever get to a decent water park tycoon. (RCT3 Soaked is weird imo.)

I thought it was great.
The point of a game is to waste time. Under no circumstances do I look back at an hour of gaming and think "What a great use of my time!". I don't expect fantastic mediums of art and knowledge to ever come from the front page, and nor should you.
Miner's Haven was innovative. It took two of the biggest parts of ROBLOX gaming - tycoons and building - and merged them into a technologically impressive game that holds up well despite its ambition.
Miner's Haven was in-depth. It's fairly obvious from the stylistics of your review that you didn't bother putting much thought into how deep the game could go, but there's a wealth of strategy and applied game theory available for you to consider. What setup is the most optimal at my current income? How should I position my equipment to maximize space and aesthetics? It took me a calculator, a sheet of graph paper, and a good deal of thought to optimize and "beat" the game, which gives it a higher level of intellectualism than... almost anything else on ROBLOX.
Miner's Haven was addictive. It took the game model from the wildly popular idle game "AdVenture Capitalist" and meshed it well with the ROBLOX style to create a game that kept people coming back. Rebirth weapons served as fuel for players to repeat the process, thus extending the game time further.
It's true the creator fell to greed and began monetizing his game at unsavory levels, but that doesn't change the fact that the game - under the intents of purposes of what a game is - was good. It was innovative, it was smart, and it was addictive. It deserves its front page status more than most games on there can claim. |

^ Actually, I like to think of gaming as a sub-culture. There are conventions, exhibits and tournaments completely dedicated to gaming. Its a billion dollar industry, and its growing every year substantially.
When you play a game, you are helping contribute to that culture, and in return, you receive entertainment. When you buy a game, you're helping stimulate the economy, and encouraging the development of new games!
Don't ever think of it as a waste of time. You're always getting something out of it. |
