Just about anything you can imagine.

Depending on what he's going to be running and other components he might want an i7, we don't know yet.

I said if he wants one for gaming, not everything. Though considering he's on the forums for a PC game, he probably wants one for gaming. |

But he's asking about i7's, not i5's.

I know, but it's a very common misconception that greater number = greater performance. I've seen many people that think that something with "i7" on it makes it automatically better than something with "i5" on it, mainly in gaming... so, I said "for gaming, get an i5" |

i7s are unnecessary for gaming at 1080p to be honest. I've got an i5 4690k 3.5GHz but I've overclocked it to 4.5GHz on air cooling with decent temperatures when stress testing.
Runs games like GTA V like a dream even with a second monitor rendering the desktop still. |

Forgot to mention I have a GTX 980. My friend has the 970 and a lower grade i5 and still has no problems. |

Get a good/newish i5, you probably won't get a bottleneck unless you buy a really super fancy graphics card. Don't buy the best i5 though
