Greetings fellow Americans and the Congress,
Today I come to you to ask for your support (citizens) and to vote (Congress) on the creation of the military courts. Article I Section 8 Clause 9, and as well in Article III Section 1 of the U.S Constitution, allows Congress the power to "constitute tribunals inferior to the Supreme Court", and "in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish"
As of right now, the Military does not have a judicial body that can oversee cases in a timely manner, as well as abide by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. A bill is being presented to Congress in which sets up the judicial section of the military including a summary court, appeals court, and the process for military judges. This bill can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iiIpkfMO0RDAeEbMLpC4pc0iAy1t9YPodEiI-ziNHHQ/edit?usp=sharing
The Military courts cannot function properly or legally without creation by Congress, and then approval of judges and the Judge Advocate General. I urge Congress to pass this bill, and then the Senate to approve nominations to these positions by the President. The military is growing rapidly and needs a sound legal system to keep everything in order. We currently do not have an effective system, and this can be seen throughout the ranks. There are squabbles and other discourse that can be quickly dealt with if there was a military judicial system in place. I am currently in the DoJ, and I know the importance of a sound judicial body to oversee the people. It isn't fair that we should only focus on the civilian aspect of the law, and leave the bulk of the military aspect of the law to the Joint Chiefs or COs who already have other matters to deal with. Because of this, many issues are swept under the rug, and never are resolved. An active and professional legal environment within the military will help structure, organization, and overall effectiveness.
Again, I urge you all to sign and I urge Congress to pass the aforementioned bill to create the JAG Corps and the courts that go along with it. I also urge the President to nominate Judges and a Judge Advocate General to fill these positions.
Thank you for your time,
Vice Admiral Matimilion |

Support, we have a military prison..but no military court, which makes it unfair in several occasions.
