I know I'm on a break from ot for this month and at this rate may extend it to next month too, but this will be very helpful to me as i attempt to figure out some way to reform the educational system so that it is effective i know it's probably never ever going to actually happen but i would like to study and become informed on potential solutions to such a horrendous issue a bad education only leads to a bad society so if something can be changed for the better, society as a whole can move in a better direction
just short little statements is fine |

I've always believed school starts way too early. (don't get me wrong, I love my education), this might be a "immature" post too. sorry
But research shows the human brain isn't ready to compute knowledge until about 10:00 A.M |

Kids go in there and are unrealistically told that they're receiving an education in order to get a job.
There's a heavier emphasis placed on work than on actually being intelligent or talented.
The scope of courses offered is severely limited.
In the US, a teaching degrees is one of the easiest degrees you could possibly get. On average, student teachers have a higher GPA than a majority of students from other degrees. AKA, any idiot can be a teacher in the US.
There have been many instances of religion being implemented into the system in spite of this being illegal on many levels. In certain states, textbooks have had a note written on them saying that even though evolution is taught within the book, "it's important to be open-minded," implying that creationism may be a better option than what's generally regarded as one of the most well-supported scientific theories in existence.
The 'if one kid acts up, all get punished' mentality, which does nothing.
Group projects. All of them.
The cost of college, AKA the scam of college.
There is a very high level of stress placed on some students to succeed. There is very little growth mentality instilled upon students.
It's primarily based on memorization rather than intuition.
Very little is done to prevent the assembling of 'cliques,' so social structure is unrealistic and faulty.
I could keep going if I had to. |

nope im not being sarcastic it's ridiculous that school systems directly ignore the numerous scientific studies and even statements by the CDC that start times are way too early for anything that goes on in a classroom to be effective |

The fact that some teachers don't even give a crap about the urban kids doing absurd or illegal crap in the school.
Lazy teachers.
Jaded teachers who forgot to do their jobs.
Dead students. |

"The 'if one kid acts up, all get punished' mentality, which does nothing."
I hated that in elementary school. I can definitely relate
>When teachers keep the class in after dismissal (which is actually illegal)
>ONE PERSON IS TALKING, BUT NO, LET'S PUNISH THE ENTIRE CLASS. (never understood that concept)
====================================================
This really pissed me off below.
In third grade, this kid stole a PSP from another kid, and the disciplinary specialist threatened to suspend us ALL if no one fessed up, also, he accused just the BOYS. eventually the kid fessed up and saved a ton of trouble.
5th grade - Teachers loses 20 dollars a student gave to her, accuses the ENTIRE CLASS of stealing it, and caused us to miss lunch because of it. (We couldn't leave until someone ("confessed") |

i want recess :'(
(Also I'd like the history classes to provide how other places viewed specific events accurately so that we can have a more 3d view on events and use perspective to guide us.) |

they dont give grades based on intelligence,
recess time is being shortened,
they make the grading system so that you're entire path of life depends 100% on your grades |

college makes it so that only the wealthy can have a good life,

calling out students is the worst way to punish them. its literally like making someone wear a minions costume while screaming "bananna" multiple times while millions of people are watching and laughing. it does nothing but hurts children and helps lean them towards depression

school system should be revamped to base off of knowledge rather than age, and optionally be entirely virtual (i know latter exists but the child can choose if they want to just go on a computer instead of actually interacting with people)
i hate the system so much atm
basically, if you're 12-13 you have to be a 7th grader because that's most likely how smart you are xdddd. also they teach things SO SLOWLY i mean even if its something i dont know i learn it as soon as they say it (even if i have a bad memory) but they do like 10 examples and it's so stupid. one can help a little bit they go overboard. i get that some kids are unintelligent but does that mean we all are?
even though it's sorta accurate with being most likely and even though it's technically possible to skip a grade they make it too hard to skip a grade and plus it's so annoying to know everything in the class (or at least most of it) and have to sit through a class with a condescending teacher
it should be based off of skill and intelligence
for example, skill level 1 and intelligence level 10 (IQ150-160) learns what would normally be kindergarten math all the way to 8th grade math in one year
there will be skill and intelligence tests every year to place the children
if they can completely pass the skill test (or at least show understanding of all the concepts) they finish school because they know everything in the school, and they can move onto college. if they completely pass the intelligence test, they go to the highest intelligence level. if they feel like they are not intelligent enough for a certain class they can easily ask to go to the less intelligent classes (virtually if the virtual option is picked)
you can also go to school literally whenever you want or at least within a set of hours. i absolutely hate having to get up at 7am just to know i'll be at school in a few minutes.
literally the only problem with this are the amount of teachers, difficulty to add a very good intelligence and knowledge test with high accuracy, but this will add more jobs, thus improving economy. also it'll teach more people, thus improving how many people are able to work.
literally the only arguments against this would be school size, being MEAN!!! :((((( to the unintelligent or unknowledgable, or how long it'd take.
if we could implement something at least similar to this i'd actually not mind going to school at all really, because i'd be able to choose the computer option and i wouldn't have to interact with people.
very very very long post but we need to change this system; revamp it.
(btw i copy+pasted this from another thread so sorry if this doesn't make sense) |

| group projects. as a person with moderate social anxiety, i absolutely hated when we were forced to do a project, what ALWAYS happens is that i do all the work, and the other team mates say i did nothing, which meant i got a 0 while the lazy jerks who did nothing got a 98. |

i really agree with the statement about teachers doing nothing when they know illegal things go on in the classroom the gap between rich and poor neighborhoods' levels of education is astounding |
