Well there's definitely no binary, it's just an oversimplification that is largely contextualized within Western culture. It's all a spectrum and you’ll find that reality is rarely as simple and as pure as uncompromising binaries.
Gender... is very much highly contextualized by time and place. Now if [you] really want to talk about scientists being "biased and pushing an agenda", go ahead and take a gander at modern western science for pushing a flawed binary narrative.
Non-binary genders are definitely not some modern invention as the idea of non-binary genders is as old as human civilization, because gender is socially constructed and subjective depending on origin, and people’s ideas about gender have changed over time and between cultures.
So... yes and no? Hit it with a little maybe so?

| There are lots of genders, Even Facebook has the gender in gender options and that is a big social media site. I know many people who are gender fluid or bigender (two genders) trigender (Three genders) I am FTM so that is another gender. |

@Trian Those are identities, but if you prefer to call them genders that's fine I guess.

You can't just "switch" to another gender.

@milli But you still have the X and Y chromosomes in you. It is impossible to make a man 100% female.

I passed biology class twice, and so I am absolutely positive that there are only two genders.
>"there are only two genders:male and female or those who switch from male to female and vice versa everything else is just attention seeking"
It is impossible to switch from male to female or vice versa. Biologically it is impossible to change your gender chromosomes, so even if you get anatomically changed by surgery, you're still the same gender you were born as. You're just being a fake version of yourself. |

| I love when losers like in this thread go "bbbut XX means woman and XY means male!!!!." Like, quite a few people who look like "normal" (whatever that means for you) members of their gender but they actually have anomalous chromosome sets. |

I feel like alot of people are basing gender off personality, rather than real gender dysphoria. And how Ironic when their like "screw gender roles", when technically... their basing this entire spectrum on stereotypical masculine personalities and feminine personalities.
Oh no, I'm becoming edge!! |
