I've been thinking a lot about this recently, and decided to put it out here and see what people's thoughts would be. So here it goes:
To be basic and give you an overall overview of what I'm imagining, let's just say it is a combination of H1Z1/DayZ, Arma, and apocalypse rising, but with my own additions. For example, a huge factor is the map. The map will be randomly/procedurally generated. The way this would work is I would make different "sections". All these sections would have different spawn locations and pre-sets that are also randomly chosen. For example, say a section was just a flat road with some trees and a trail going through the middle. I would have invisible bricks where the trees would be generated and the script would pick a random number between 10-20 and then put that many trees on random places on the section. This means that some parts will be used and some won't, providing some variety. Therefore the map may be a little familiar, but still look different. Also, instead of items being scattered all over the floor, objects would be in dressers, cabinets, and sometimes on the floor because they may have fallen. Zombies would actually animate when walking and have random speeds and strengths instead of generically walking in your general direction with arms stretched at a 90* angle. I have a lot more to say, but I don't want to make this thread too long or leak some of my major ideas, just in case. I will be taking this slow at first, so I hopefully won't leave it for being such a big project. I already have a prototype of the random map system and am getting started on some more features. I hope to bring a well-built survival game to roblox instead of the old apoc rising. Not that I hate apoc rising, I just really think it needs a refurbish. I am not copying it either, so don't think that.
Anyway, any suggestions, ideas, or questions are appreciated. Thank you. |

Find something nobody has used. Including apoc, and others.

| It's a well-built zombie game with some factors I haven't seen on any zombie games. Thanks but no thanks for the suggestion |

I'm not quite sure if you already had this in mind, but it would be good for the generator to somehow make maps that aren't memorizable.

| I should have explained this in more detail, but basically I will add more sections once the game progresses. I have a strict plan to follow and can't wait to see the outcome. At first, the map will probably be pretty familiar because I need to do more than create sections. I need to work on mechanics and such, but I will probably focus on making more sections once the other things are pretty stable. In early testing and alpha stages, it should be familiar, but by release it will have a lot more variety, and then I also plan on adding even more. Like I said, I am going to take it slow and before release it won't have a ton of variety, but then I will polish everything and finalize it. Thank you for reminding me. |
