ROBLOX.com
why we should embrace new members of the community.
DISCLAIMER: sorry for grammatical mistakes or foul language, but i wrote this right off the bat on my phones “notes”. NOTE: before replying with a counter-argument, make sure you’ve read the whole thing, confident that i haven’t addressed the argument.
READ THIS: notice that i’m talking about general new OT’ers who are merely here to indulge in post content they enjoy, whether that be talking about their cat, a new katy perry album or whatever. i’m talking about the new people who actually try to be a part of the community.
off topic is as you know a hang-out for the lot of us. many of you are very persistent with insulting both the subforum and the members within, regardless of spending time a great amount of your time here. you’ve in general always been significantly hypocritical and pessimistic, but i’ve observed a mentality which has bothered me on a thousand levels.
throughout the 4 years i’ve been here, i’ve encountered several and numerous complaints, attacks and hatred towards the new influx of our community. it happens on a severe and obnoxious degree daily, it’s even utilized as an argument and veritably even considered a valid one. as someone who was initially a victim of these type of attacks, i can tell you all it’s not a delightful (pun intended) experience. surely i agree that my content was bad and i merely posted for a higher post count, but there are several reasons for that. - “lol, you need to close your computer if you’re offended or saddened by others remarks ONLINE!!! HA” let’s get this one off of the table. i was 12. don’t forget the young ones need to learn, surely. but it’s scientifically and psychologically proven that we learn, develop and progress better through positive motivation instead of punishment. i reminisce being harassed and attacked every time i created a post, even when i did my best to make it good quality. in the end, i merely gave up and started posting like a radical for this to stop. (read the next paragraph) yes, i admit that OT has gotten softer and less aggressive since then, however the hatred has still remained clear. take that into consideration, dear ones.
- we are indirectly causing (perchance even encouraging) others to be so .. obnoxious. by insulting them and calling them noobies, they will ask themselves “well, how do i stop this?” and what would the conclusion be? a higher post count. no one is able to deny that a great majority of OT’ers judge others based on their post count. (join date could additionally be relevant, but it’s never clear whether the person is an alt or when they joined the forums based on it). what does this result in? terrible posts with no quality at all. does this solve your alleged problem with new people? no.
but exactly why should we stop? it’s actually become a part of OT’s internet-culture to utilize these scare tactics to force supposedly horrendous newbies away, so why? what consequences does it have, if any at all? - “but i was harassed when i was a noob!!! i became better!!!” you can’t base your own individual experience off of how others outcomes will be. yes, i know i quite did in my first paragraph, but i have arguments as to why it’s actually valid with objective facts of human behaviour.
- “they’re annoying” no one is born with the trait “annoying”. it’s ultimately something you define for yourself (under the influence of society and peers of course). if you find someone annoying, that is YOUR and YOUR problem. not the person you’ve labeled annoying, not their family, not ROBLOX’ but yours. that is something you personally need to work on. you can’t expect any individuals in this world to change for you, especially those you come to find online. even if you manage to succeed causing them to change, you’ll have a long road ahead of you. surely you must know that you can’t change everyone. that’s going to be tough way to go through life, to constantly allow yourself your mind to be pestered by such. and you know what? if you find THIS annoying, what else would NOT bother you? ignore them and stop caring for your own mental health and well-being in the long run. yes, this logic can twisted and used against me; why shouldn’t the new members do that? the thing is, they should and some of them greatly do. however, it’s hard to work against peer pressure as the new members are doing. your case is an individual case where you are not the one harassed, but you’re the one being annoyed. the new members however are harassed and not annoyed. different case, not comparable. don’t twist my logic :]
- “i’m happy with OT the way it is, I don’t want new members” that is essentially the same as saying “i deserve to be here more than others, my rights and needs are above other peoples desires. how dare they??? do you not see the twisted logic in this? i believe i am not obligated to elaborate further on that particular argument. oooh, and that brings us to my next point!
- OT is not an owned territory, it’s not your country and not your nationality either. this is a platform available for everyone. everyone is allowed to post here as they please, so long it doesn’t break the guidelines of roblox. you are in position to prohibit others from posting content that is allowed merely because you dislike it. “but you’re telling US how to behave, so what kind of hypocrisy is that?!?” your behaviour here is absolutely edgy, in the literal sense. you’re just on the edge of breaking the rules and hence you’re difficult to moderate. keep that in mind.
- “i didn’t encounter this? what are you talking about?” you can’t base your own individual experience off of how others outcomes will be. yes, i know i quite did in my first paragraph, but i have arguments as to why it’s actually valid with objective facts of human behaviour. [2]
- it causes the new generation to be just as harsh or even harsher to newer ones do you want to CONTINUE this cycle of hatred and constant pessimism? i believe that’s one of our core problems; hatred. we possess so much negativity. that is normal, but our amount rules the positivity out. do you want to stop the amount of apparent “garbageposting”? then stop with the amount of hateful vibes you give out. “but didn’t you say YOU personally were “bullied” on this platform whilst you’re defending them???” i’ve always been an underdog throughout my whole life and i’ve learned you can’t repeat others mistakes. i won’t get further into that, my thumbs started to hurt long ago.
- we need the new ones :] this speaks for itself, we clearly need them to keep the fresh and good things in this subforum going on!!! we need the new influx of members and we need some who enjoy spending their time here. also, as OT’ers leave, new ones will replace. that is life. if you want that to stop, OT will end up just as slow as RT.

| But they all try too hard with being "edgy" and spamming "memes". I hosted a OT Movie Night on Dubtrack and the movie only lasted like 5 minutes, they can't even cooperate wfully th OT activiates yet in the old OT Movie Nights, the OTers would cooperate and we would watch the full movie, we would make some jokes then and there but at least it wasnt. "HERE COME DAT BOI!!! XD I SO EDGYYYYY!!!!" |

| I rounded up every single argument and common oldbag rhetoric against OT'ers. they're divided into paragraphs so you can see which section is about what argument. there's a reason it's so long, just for once ATTEMPT to look at the layout and smaller titles |
