Where you are the commander of the ALIEN forces?
So basically you came in your awesome spaceship and lurked for a while until enough other spaceships joined you so you could carry out your invasion of this little measly technologically-deficient planet called "Earth". So far you only have the forward scout ships with some weak forces and some of your infiltrators on the ground, but more forces will arrive as the months go on.
Anyway, yeah, you start an invasion of earth. Throwing prisoner-taking thingamajiggers into major city centers, then deploying your Grays(name pending) with their dinky plasma pistols to clean up and help move the new resources. But then some low-tech flying thingy arrives and offloads a group of soldiers who spread out and start attacking your poor weak Grays! Even with their weak bullet-based earth weapons, they are still strong enough to damage and kill your Grays, so its an exchange of fire as both sides take serious injuries and casualties. During the confusion, some smart ground-side commander places an infiltrator in the enemy's group(what infiltrators are to be determined), and the enemy sadly manages to kill all your Grays. The infiltrator goes back with them and learns that these soldiers are from some international organization that was formed to stop YOU from carrying out your invasion of Earth.
So they're a little more organized than anyone had previously thought. So what? Continue the invasion! You'll have to manage troop deployments, new research and development of alien types and special weaponry, and maybe even finding and destroying the bases and HQ of this meddling organization that sends soldiers to stop many of your operations!
Depending on preference, I may insert a system of ground commanders that each have strengths and weaknesses in their command style, which you can send to oversee operations. If the organization goes after that operation, the ground commander will use the forces available to fight them, and the battle will probably be determined by what the enemy brought, what you brought, and how the commander can use that. Otherwise, it'll be generic strength vs. strength deciding.
Both sides will being doing R&D, so as you get stronger the enemy will also get stronger, developing better weapons and armor to counter your forces. Unlike straight XCOM, both sides will be using everything in their arsenal. If the enemy thinks that you're deploying so many forces that everything they send will die and there's no chance for the civilians anyway, they might nuke the site. In retaliation, you could make and spread a plague that turns humans into zombies! Similar to Dark Events from XCOM 2, but which can be made and deployed at any time, at the cost of resources like other things that are bought and stuff.
Oh yeah, money. You, as the alien commander, are fighting with OTHER alien commanders in politics for more forces with which to assault worlds. Obviously, you will receive a set amount of troops and general resources every so often, but that will NOT be enough on its own. So you need to carry out operations. If you can show that you gained useful intelligence, or send back captives and artifacts from Earth, you'll gain more pull with your bosses, which means you can request additional troops, scientists, and/or engineers. More troops/scientists/engineers means more ways to fight this annoying organization that counters you, or tries to anyway, at every opportunity!
So, who's interested? Knowing me, I'll probably need a co-host to assist with hosting the various threads, so I'll take volunteers for that as well. Come people, and give me your thoughts. |

| Well, from last I heard, the lore of XCOM to my knowledge is that the Ethereals mind controlled and or force evolved all the races in XCOM into fighting for them. |

| Keywoard is XCOM-inspired. Things won't be the same as in the actual XCOM. |

| Actually, I was planning for my next RP after Gargantuan to be a alien invasion/human defense RP as well. Although unlike your proposal it'll have both the alien's and human's factions, along with a neutral mercenary faction. |

Obviously I'm losing my popularity and becoming anonymous as the memory change takes effect... |

Didn't read that entire paragraph but the title sounded fun.
