The universe has many secrets to it, and many people willing to uncover those secrets. Whether it be for their own personal gain, or for the advancement of all life, is yet to be determined.
Thousands of years ago, some could even say before that, magic and other such forms of power were commonly accepted as part of the natural order of things. Beings could twist reality, in ways some only dream of in these modern times, with ease. But then came ancient Greece, and eventually ancient Rome. Large numbers of very powerful humans began to appear throughout the world, in these regions specifically. A certain group rose up, calling themselves Gods, and trying to force humanity to do its bidding in secret. When they saw Greece as a lost cause, they took up a new empire and conquered it, as they would most of the known world at the time. These self proclaimed Gods eventually began treating lesser humans, the majority of the population at the time, as if they were nothing more than animals. Few would ever dare to fight against their tyrannical powers.
Many operations were attempted by lesser magical beings, but all failed horribly. These 12 seemed to have power far greater than anyone would ever get the chance to build up, as they had now been alive for so very long. Eventually people would just fall in to their rule, not trying to fight them as they knew they would fail. But, this wasn't to be the case forever. A young mage uncovered a very ancient book deep within forgotten lands of the world. The book showed him very dark, and powerful magic that not even the "Gods" had found themselves, or formed. This mage used the power to summon a ominously dark being, who offered him a choice of absolute power, power enough to defeat the Gods, and an army to assist him. Or the chance to simply leave the world and serve under the beings even more enigmatic master. Of course the mage quickly took his choice on the matter, the first of the two. The being seemed to absorb his essence, the human himself fading, yet the two didn't seem to fully fall in line. Their minds and powers merging and forming a new being, much more malevolent than either of them had intended. This new being, naming himself Nocte, or Night, used his intense powers and summoned 6 beings that appeared other worldly.
Nocte himself left the 6 to their one mission, to destroy the self proclaimed Gods of earth and take the world for themselves, and for himself. The six seemed incredibly powerful, far more than magic being what they used to achieve their feats. They were physically superior to humans, in size, strength, speed, and simply pure prowess. But their powers made them even more formidable of opponents to their designated enemies. The 6 meta-humans easily destroyed the gods' stronghold, killing them without remorse or care for civilian damage. These new 6, however, reflected on human life, seeing the fertility of it to crate such great things. They refused their orders to take over humanity, and helped defend it against anything supernatural to its security. Humanity naming them the Oceate. Eventually, however, humans began to fear that the same thing that happened with the gods would happen with these new beings, and they forced them out. The 6 vanishing from the face of the earth.
Nocte took quick advantage of this, bringing the bodies and magic of the defeated gods to life, forming his new army as he would spend countless years hunting down these Oceate, eventually finding them in a stone community in South America. He easily killed them off, but at a cost to his power. Nocte was forced into a hibernation-like state for thousands of years to come, lending the world to a near powerless community, as magic became more and more uncommon.
It is said that people still practice magic in the shadows, secretly, away from the public eye. As the fear of ridicule, experimentation, or worse, genocide would occur to these magic wielders. But the time is coming that they may need to rise again, to assist the world as dark times near. Nocte has been sleeping long enough, his soldiers working for him in the shadows, preparing the world for when he finally returns. The world needs new heroes, new people to rise up and defend all of humanity.
~Rules~
No killing No Godmodding powers Help form the story, that's your job, so don't argue if something happens No OOC fighting Keep calm if something seems to not be going the right way It's more story driven, don't fight people all of the time The main villain(s) will be GM controlled (by me) so don't worry about that Be descriptive, that isn't to say try and force over a paragraph each post. There will be slow moments! Try to keep to 3 characters, if not 2, it gets too stretched out past that. Keep, maybe, 2 powers, if not just 1. Weapons are fine, in fact most of my characters will use weapons. Be mature, don't constantly try to make the story about you. It's an open forum, it's about everyone who joins. Everyone will have some form of importance to the story, it may not be quickly seen, but it will happen eventually. Trust me.
