In the KJV it says that women shouldn't "usurp authority over the man."
The KJV is how I interpret it.

not entirely
as a protestant Christian I believe that women should have the same legal authority as men, however in marriage the wife should respect the husband's authority (as long as it isn't abusive or unfair)

| Well you are wrong. It says in the Bible that women are not permitted to speak. |

from my view: the silence part is basically saying that the wife shouldn't try rebuking the husband's authority

the rule of thumb for the wife is "listen to your husband" and the rule of thumb for the husband is "love your wife" (so that he won't make her do things that are unfair)

I basically view the wife as the SiC of the family, they take charge of family matters that the husband is unable to take charge of

but ultimately the husband should be the one providing everything needed to the wife and the family imo

| Christians believe the bible is infallible idiot. That means it cannot be wrong. You just sound like you don't believe in it. |

but gender standards like that can get stressful at times, gamemaster (though i see where you're coming from)
for example, its completely opposite in my family
my dad's more stay-at-home while my mom's a full-time nurse and essentially the breadwinner
but yea, they both hold essential roles and interchange every now and then
basically im saying the standards just arent really relevant, especially depending on the situation |

| The only thing that changed is that feminists who don't agree with the bible started convincing people that women don't have to remain silent. But it says it right there in (1 timothy 2:12). The feminists are being deceptive and tricking people. |
