arts and music in general are forms of communicating without actually speaking
its like a mime confessing his love for balloons, but much more musical and heartwarming
oh, and the fact that you get loads of wimin if you play a sax
or a trumpet |

| You don't need to learn about how some King who died 1000 years ago started a bunch of wars in order to increase the borders of his country. It doesn't matter today. All we need to teach our students is English, Science, Math, and Technology. |

Its actually proven that band kids are smarter Band, music... Being able to play an instrument, teaches a certain capability to mahematics... Music has a lot of ties into math and there are a lot of studies done that show it actually changes the way people think to be able to play an instrument If you have a marching band theres even more studies for that |

| Let's just remove culture, and to top it all off, no more electives! That'll really help I'm sure. (I do agree we need good political classes in middle school) |

arts and music are both fairly important imo they allow people to express emotions, ideas, etc. through ways not usually given to someone. while they are technically ESSENTIAL, neither are lots of higher maths. i mean, anyone who doesn't plan on becoming someone in a math-related field probably doesn't need to take classes like geometry, physics, trig, etc. and history is only useful for certain cases, too. really, the only essential classes are english and basic math - algebra

| Not all history is only ancient, within politics recent(ish) history is extremely important. History encompasses so much more use than just knowing what happened 5,000 years ago. Even ancient history is important in the study of human nature, which is a very useful topic within a broad range of fields. |

| Children should not be taught that "art" and "music" are viable career paths because they are not. Schools should not be wasting taxpayer money teaching these subjects. |

| I would cut funding for ancient history. But I would teach American history and world history with an emphasis on the modern world. This would include politics. |

| ancient history is still important when dealing with international affairs, especially with the amount of religious conflict that occurs, it's important to understand it's origin and effects. |

| It is illegal to teach religion in US schools. There is a separation of Church and state. |

| Besides, we don't want children believing religion is as valid as science. Religion is fake and science relies on evidence. |

It is illegal to teach it as a religion, telling people it is truth and that they should believe in it, that does not mean that we cannot teach how a religion came about and what events took place because of it. We'd still need to know since some countries cause conflict from something that happened long ago. |

they say history is learned so we don't repeat our past actions BUT WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, MANY THINGS TODAY ARE OF THE SAME REASON FOR DOING AS THEN.
just saying, history otherwise shouldn't be removed, we all need a few classes to have people like and not like. |

| There is a difference between teaching it as a church would and teaching it from a historical viewpoint. |
