Perdue is a decent university that you don't need to necessarily be a genius to get into.
I'm going to the University of Akron, which is alright with engineering. Nothing special though. |

| I'm going to Rutgers in Camden, NJ to study Political Science, so if that's your field it's a pretty good school. |

why should i refrain from MIT? even tho i probably wouldnt be acknowledged anyway
international acceptances for most US Universities are below 20%
cali will be my first choice, likely to be UCSD

Florida's actually really nice in parts. It just depends on where you live and who you associate with. It's the same story in every other place with lots of people(See: California, New York, Texas.)
First off, I'd recommend taking the ACT and/or the SAT. Pretty much every college in the U.S. requires that you take at least one and the scores can be very useful to identify and obtain scholarships.
I'd suggest against going to school in California. Living in the state is very expensive and there are better schools elsewhere in the country.
Look at these: -Texas A&M --> Great tech/agricultural school, relatively safe area in a great state with lots to do. Not the cheapest school on the list but it's good for engineering and comp sci. -Stetson University(FL) --> Great Comp. Sci., top ranking business program(one aspect of which has 100% post-grad job placement). Great area in Florida, beautiful campus, small school, gives lots of scholarships(especially if you do well on the ACT.) -The Ohio State University --> Good international program listing, very good business, engineering schools and top ranked medical school. Probably one of the best schools in terms of community involvement opportunities as well, and great alumni network.

I also think you should use Cappex. There's a lot of schools that I haven't heard about that I found on there that ended up being in my top options.
I ended up committing to Ohio State but there are lots of schools in the U.S. with great STEM and Comp Sci programs.
And just to reiterate, avoid california. Expensive, trashy culture, water crisis, trash sports teams, there's' a lot of reasons not to move there. If you're just going for weather there are good states which aren't as god awful. |
