Okay so I have made several threads, and I thought I'd propose the full plan to you guys.


[The Map]

So basically the map is a series of floating islands throughout four regions based on elements. The first set of floating islands is themed on forests and life and it contains various trees and greenery as well as small ponds. The second set of islands is themed on rocks and rock formations. The third set of islands is themed on fire and destruction. It will contain volcanos as well as really rough mountainous terrain. The fourth region is themed on water and ice and contains islands made of solid ice with ponds here and there.

Alongside the four main regions there will be smaller sub regions that will probably be added later on. These will all be difficult to reach and will require lots of teamwork and collecting of materials.

There is one more main area that is easy to access but not necessarily the safest place once you access it. This is the part of the islands that is occupied by all four regions and serves as a central hub for various activities between multiple teams. People will often be found fighting here since it's a point where a lot of people will be crossing through to get to other regions. It might look like somewhat of a warzone at times because of this. However, if cooperation occurs between everyone in the server this area doesn't have to be a warzone and instead could be used as a trading area where each region will trade it's valuable supplies to the other regions.

Each player that enters the server will be put onto a particular team belonging to each region. That way if a player is killed they will respawn back to their home region.


[Materials]

The materials in the game consist of simply 2x4 stud bricks. That's it. Each region has it's own set of several kinds of bricks that are exclusive to the region. Each region requires you to own a certain token item in order to collect that brick. This is because the bricks in each region are hidden in different ways. When you collect a brick it goes straight into your inventory. You can spawn bricks from your inventory right in front of you and then use the grab tool to position them when building.

In other words, the whole point of the game is to collect bricks from all of the different regions whether that be through fighting the other regions and acquiring their tools and bricks or trading with the other regions for their materials. The game, at the most basic nature, is a building and swordfighting game.

The Forest region requires you to have a net to catch the bricks that fly around through the region.

The Rock region requires you to have a pickaxe in order to mine bricks from the various caves in this region.

The Fire region requires you to have fire proof gloves to pick up the steaming hot bricks contained in the lava of the region.

The Ice region requires you to have a fishing pole so you can fish for the freezing cold bricks found in this region.

The other smaller regions and the shared region do not have any materials that can be found (except for a few possible secret bricks that will be added in later and are explained later) nor does it contain tools for collecting any bricks.


[The Purpose of Collecting Bricks]

The regions are fighting to be the top region. The top region is determined by how many bricks each team has collected by the end of each day. Bricks belonging to your own region are worth 1 point towards determining the top region while bricks collected from other regions that you are not native to will grant your team 2 points towards determining the top region. The top region after each in game day is given access to a randomly chosen secret region where each team mate can acquire a secret brick only found in that secret region. Only one secret brick can be found per day. After each day the secret region that the winning region has access to changes so that you may collect all of the secret bricks.

Once a brick is removed from the inventory after collecting it the brick cannot be picked up again. However, every time you place a brick your character is given a stat increase allowing you to collect bricks faster the next time you need to get more bricks. This can be pretty handy if you plan to build a lot in your region!

Every time you leave the game after collecting a whole bunch of bricks, all of the bricks that you have in your inventory will be saved to your account so that the next time you rejoin you still have all of those bricks and you can build whatever! However, what you built in a previous server will have disappeared. This includes all bricks that you spawned from your inventory.

Please leave suggestions if you actually read the entire thing. I'm making this for fun and because I want to make a good game for RT parties that's sort of competitive but also just a chill build kind of game.

I'm thinking about starting work on this soon but if I start work Im not gonna want to stop and its gonna be all i think about and honestly that will make work go by slow tomorrow so i might wait to start it tomorrow night.

oh its just an idea

make sure it has brightness and transparent blocks and weld blocks so you can build body armor (my hobby in building games!)

possibly add a town where you can recruit players and NPC's (Possibly RT'ers) to join your guild and help you

So I want opinions on this:

If your character is killed in combat should you drop all of your items and bricks or no? I think that if you dropped everything upon death it'd be cool cause you could loot people and stuff making war an effective method of getting materials. But I feel like it might result in people resorting to killing more rather than trading.

Opinions?

I honestly think having a barter system would be more classic feeling and better. Trading is always more fun. I might even make some sort of universal (multiserver) trade index kinda thing like a lot of games have. But yeah that would make sense to drop just bricks honestly. That's probably what I'll go with.

but still, you should still be able to buy NPC's and players (and have to pay them if you're the leader) and you can trade your NPC's with other players (aka you can get different NPC's randomly and depending on the town you're in)

oh now i understand what you're saying. yeah that might be a cool addition. the thing about the tools that you can buy is that they'll be for sale for a certain amount of bricks and all bricks are going to be worth the same amount no matter what kind of brick it is. they will have the same worth when you go to buy tools.

well, no, since the currency is the bricks then to get currency you gotta do the things like mining/fishing/catching bricks.
