Not ridiculous per se.
But a solid point because sometimes it's the teacher's fault. |

parents want their children to be the best they can be to prepare them for life
bad grades means bad job because said bad grades didnt get them into college
they didnt go to college, so they cant get high-ranking positions in a company without working their butt off
and they wont work their butt off because they didnt work their butt off in school
so punishing your children for not doing their best in school isnt that bad of an idea tbh |

@that well you, person who i would assume is a chick, on a kid's gaming site, please enlighten us on proper parenting techniques and styles
unless you have your own child it's entirely likely that you'll be parroting back whatever your parents or guardians have said or giving modified advice similar to what everyone else has said
and, if you do have a kid, doesn't that speak to a failure in your parent's parenting |

It doesn't take a genius to maintain a 4.0 grade-point average. Learning is just common sense.

| while i do tend to agree with that statement, the only people i've seen saying that irl are the people who are failing classes and smoking weed all day and the parents who enable that behavior |

| Don't worry, those who didn't have this "ridiculous" parenting may have plenty of time to talk about what good not having it has done when living with their parents. They may also be lucky enough to see machines take their low-skill jobs one by one. |

| On one hand if a parent doesn't first attempt to encourage and help their child achieve better grades, then they're doing a pretty terrible job at parenting, however if they do that, and their child still isn't putting the time and effort in, then some level of punishment is justified. |

no, I don't want to sit down and lecture 14 year olds on how parenting works. your simple minds can not comprehend all sides to growing up, how it works, WHY someone would get bad grades, WHY punishment could be bad, WHY encouragement might be the way to go, why a lot of children may never get a B even though they try really hard. |
