Could the player perhaps move via pathfinding (on key press) instead of moving as usual?

very much so the question is what kind of pathing to use
you can just disable player's default movements and then when the key or a mouseclick is pressed, use the pathfinding system to move their player. it's simple when you think of it like that. |

Yes, you can do this relatively simply. Disable the ControlScript located inside PlayerScripts (this is parented in the Player object). Now, the pathfinding may be a bit tricky if you don't know algorithms for it. However, people like VolcanoInc made tools for pathfinding (as a plugin). So have fun with that.
