"I remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence. Sometimes I did the same: abusing my power full of resentment, resentment that turned into a deep depression. Found myself screaming in a hotel room. I didn't wanna self-destruct. The evils of Lucy was all around me..."

An ISRP.
TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1) The Tale of Two Nations 2) The Bible of Personal Technology 3) The Blessings of an Individual 4) The Commandments of Solus V) Lucy
---
1) The Tale of Two Nations The days march on with the rhythm of the planet Solus' turning upon its cursed axis, few travelers from beyond the stars make Solus a destination on their trips through the Universe. For, even from space, the divisions created by the tenants of Solus can be seen clearly. The most notable division is the impassable Wall of Lights which separates the Eastern and Western hemispheres. Though several nations exist on Solus, only two truly matter, only two have any real strength. These two nations were at war for centuries. When the advent of weapons of mass destruction came around, they agreed to work together to construct the Wall of Lights to separate themselves from each other to ensure their own survival. With the creation of the Wall of Lights, the war ended. Money was moved away from mobilizing armies and put into developing greater and grander technology. These two nations remain the most powerful militarily and the most advanced technologically.
The first of these two nations is the Kingdom of Floris in the Western hemisphere. The entire kingdom rests upon a singular large continent in the center of the West. All around are various other continents, home to various other nations that act as vassals to Floris. Floris itself is split up into two sections, Inner and Outer Floris. Outer Floris is, by far, the larger of these two sections. It's where the majority of Floris' population lives; it is home to farmers, hunters, industrial workers, and businessmen with no political power. While some areas of Outer Floris have fallen to poverty, the majority of it is a prosperous city of the future. Bright neon lights shine in the dark of night, skyscrapers stand uniformly straight and tower above all. A series of railways stretch out through the sky, connecting to buildings to remain in the air. Sky-trains travel across these railways and serve as the primary mode of transportation for most of those living in Outer Floris. Many of the cities in Outer Floris follow the same template: tall buildings, bright lights and advertisements, and people who seem utterly disconnected from the troubles that lurk in the dark sectors where no neon shines, and from the beasts that walk among them.
Inner Floris is a singular city in the center of the Kingdom of Floris. It is contained within an opaque dome, where light neither enters nor leaves. Nobody sees what goes on within. The few visitors allowed in are said to be implanted with a special chip that shuts down the brain if they even think of speaking about what hides behind the dome of Inner Floris. Those who live their lives in Inner Floris are the politicians, the absurdly rich, and the Neon King, who leads Floris but hasn't been seen or heard from for several decades. Even behind the impenetrable dome of Inner Floris, the monsters roam and lurk amongst man. Perhaps this is a sign that man itself is the monster we all fear and revile.
Izuru is the second of Solus' superpowers, and it exists in the Eastern hemisphere, on the other side of the Wall of Lights. Izuru is a kingdom that stretches out across several tightly-knit islands. Like Floris, Izuru captures the fictional world of cyberpunk spoken of in books from long ago. However, it differs in that it is a less uniform kingdom and carries a mix of the present and the past. Its neon-decorated buildings keep the spirit of the Orient at their heart and lack a certain corporate-feel that's so ever-present in Floris. Rare are the blaring advertisements for products. The signs here tell you what a building's purpose is, not the name of the corporate entity that sponsored the creation of the building.
Whereas Floris is a kingdom of roads, streets, and sidewalks, Izuru is one of waterways and the underground. Many who need to transit from one island to another will go through the railways beneath the ground and sea. Others, however, will take a rowboat, either public or private, across the waterways: past the buildings lining the land on either side of the water, past the cyber-augmented water wheels that provide power to the kingdom, past the poor trying to fish for food, past the demons that walk among us all. Izuru shares the same curse as Floris, the curse of the soulless ones.
---
2) The Bible of Personal Technology Floris and Izuru are both very similar in their levels of technology. Most technology used by people takes the place of flesh. Limbs are hacked off and replaced with cybernetic limbs. These external cybernetic augmentations may enhance speed, strength, agility, and so on. Along with improvement of physical abilities, external augmentations may allow for usage of certain gadgets or weapons. Far more common, and far less visible, are cybernetics implanted into the brain that allow for augmented reality in the form of a HUD. The HUD allows one to monitor their health, bring up a map with their location, translate languages (written or spoken), look at messages, and make calls, access the Cybernet, and much more. Everyone living in Izuru or Floris is implanted with a HUD-chip at birth, free of charge.
Besides HUD-chips and external augmentations, cybernetics is also used to aid internal organs that may not be functioning properly. The life-expectancies of Izuru and Floris are at an all-time high, due to both the advancement of technology, and the prolonged life of those with no souls.
Solus is a planet of war, and war requires weapons. While many weapons exist that must attach themselves to external augments, there are many others that are simply held by the un-modified hand. Although many use guns, modern cybernetics and the HUD-chip have brought resurgence in long-forsaken melee weapons. While lower-class thugs may use blunt weapons or shivs, those with a bit more money may find themselves choosing the sword. With augments and the use of an upgraded HUD to track danger, a swordsman can easily match a gunman.
You too may have an augmentation. While you may only start with one, you may find yourself purchasing or scavenging more of them as time goes on. The augments listed for you to start with are not the only ones available in the world. If you select an augmentation, you must describe what the prosthetic it's been fitted to looks like. Only one limb may be replaced with a cybernetic at the start, and you may only select one augment for that limb.
Arm Augments: Selecting an arm augment will passively provide you with increased strength in melee combat when using the prosthetic arm to attack. Your prosthetic arm is also less likely to be crippled. Magnetic - You cannot be disarmed when wielding a weapon in your prosthetic hand. You may also be able to pull smaller metal objects (within a certain range) to yourself. Zip-gun - There's a small pistol hidden in your prosthetic. It may be quickly aimed and fired at any point in time. It can only hold three bullets before it must retract into the arm to reload. Knife-edge - A blade can extend from your prosthetic to be used against enemies through either slashing or stabbing.
Leg Augments: Selecting a leg augment will passively provide you with increased speed and kicking-power. Your prosthetic leg is also less likely to be crippled. In-built Cleats - Spikes may extend from your prosthetic foot. They can be used to put more damage into your kicks, or to briefly attach yourself to structures. Launch Pad - Your prosthetic foot is equipped with thrusters that fire off in short bursts, allowing you to jump farther or swiftly dodge enemy attacks. Soft Step - Your footsteps are quieted considerably, but are not completely silent. If you gain a second prosthetic leg and apply this augment to that one as well, then your steps will be entirely silenced.
HUD Upgrades: Though you are already fitted with a basic HUD, you may wish to have it improved, rather than gaining an entirely new cybernetic fitting. Danger Indicator - Allows you to judge how dangerous someone or something may be, relative to your combat ability, though a quick scan. Night-vision Overlay - Allows you to see clearly in the dark without the use of a flashlight, even in pitch black areas. Hacking (Level I) - Hacking upgrades allow you to access electronics through your HUD. The first level will allow you to switch nearby lights off for a period of time. The first level must first be acquired before acquiring the second level, and so on.
---
3) The Blessings of an Individual All people are special, all people are individual. What of you? What is it that makes you special? Look, peruse, and decide. You may select up to two of these perks. If you don't want two, you may pick one, or even none. Place them in the appropriate section of the character sheet at the end.
Zephyr - The wind is with you, and it always will be. You move far more swiftly than most. As such, you will always have the first attack in a combat scenario, even when ambushed and caught off-guard by the enemy.
Surprise Meeting - A crucial decision will be set at your feet very early on, and the benefits of a certain choice in this decision will progress in magnitude far faster...
Come Fly With Me - The gift of the silver tongue is with you, and those who hear you are more likely to agree with you. Your skills of persuasion and intimidation are the envy of all, and you have an easier time convincing people to look at things from your perspective.
Forged in Shadow - When enemies are unaltered to your presence, remaining motionless in darkness will render you completely invisible. Furthermore, people and creatures will have a harder time detecting you in general.
Don't Panic - Keep a calm mind at all times; for tranquility of mind leads to balance in the body. You will not suffer de-buffs or disadvantages from being at critical health.
Of Steel and Lead - You will be able to wield all weapons with one hand, and be able to reload all guns with one hand as well. And, whenever using both a melee weapon and a ranged weapon at the same time, you are provided with a damage boost.
The War Economy - Life is an endless war, it's best to try to make a bit of money off of it. You will find more money, and more valuable items, on the corpses of foes you or your companions have slain.
Blackstar - You will die one day, as death comes for us all. When you lose your life and fall, you will be resurrected where you died, with 5% of your health. This will only happen for you once. Die twice, and die forever.
---
4) The Commandments of Solus -All are welcome to join, provided they create a good character sheet. -The standard rules of ISRPs apply. -Limit the amount of one-line responses you post. -I will not be the DM of this RP, pirate59392 will be. -Lucy has not spoken to you yet.

V) Lucy A woman, believed by some to be a myth, and others to be reality, She is said to come from the Hell beneath the feet of us all. She may walk among others, appearing human. But, to some, she shows her true demonic form. To those who gaze upon her true self, she makes an offer, power in exchange for a soul. It is said that this is how the monsters that dwell among us are made. Perhaps Lucy will visit you one day. Perhaps she will ask you the dreaded, cursed question, the question that, no matter what your answer, will haunt you for the rest of your days upon Solus. The question that cursed the axis our planet spins upon, the question that will one day be asked of all, and will bring about the ruin of the world, the question that everyone who's heard it remembers. The question. Your soul. For sale? |

Name: Hattori Aisaka
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Occupation: Private Detective
Appearance: Hattori is an Eastern man standing at 5'10, with a strong build that you'd be more likely to find on a younger lad who still has the vitality of youth and the will to work out trapped within his heart. His face and hair tell a different story, yet a very conflicted story. His white hair makes him look older than his face would lead you to believe. Only a few wrinkles can be found in his face, they're like needles in a haystack of scars that dot his face. Most of the scars are rather small, but noticeable nonetheless.
Hattori's eyes are, perhaps, what stick out most about him. He has carmine-colored eyes, like dried blood. Darkness is around his eyes, making the redness of them more prominent. At times, when staring into Hattori's' eyes, it seems that the red in them is flowing and moving about. Certainly unnerving to many people who find themselves eye-to-eye with Hattori. Often times, this strangeness about his eyes leads people to breaking eye-contact with him and re-establishing it once they've recovered their wits. Perhaps these eyes are a result of his HUD-chip's overlay tampering with his eyes, or perhaps they're a sign of Lucy coming to visit him soon.
Hattori's hair is naturally white and always has been. He's had the sides and back of his head buzzed in an undercut style, leaving a rather full amount of hair at the top and front of his head and minimal hair at the sides (beginning roughly where his head begins to curve) and back of his head. A very light amount of white stubble is growing on Hattori's mildly-tanned face.
Hattori is garbed in shades of black and white. He wears a long-sleeve, white, collared shirt that looks rough, crinkled, and wrinkled. In fact, the white of this shirt looks like its creeping into the color grey. Over this is a a black waistcoat of sorts, with only the middle two buttons done. And then, over this, is a dark grey, nearly black, coat with slightly darker pinstripes. This coat is worn with all buttons undone, and its bottom reaches down to the waist, then a little bit further. The left sleeve of the coat is rolled up to the center of his forearm, revealing part of his prosthetic arm. A pair of plain-looking, slightly loose pants the same color as his coat are worn, along with a pair of black tennis shoes that've been weathered and worn over the years.
His left arm is no longer human, having been replaced by a red prosthetic with a black trim and segmented fingers. The arm has a ball-joint at the wrist, giving the hand of it the regular range of movement seen by normal humans hands. The arm lacks any feature to make it look more human and less prominent. It doesn't have the sleekness of more high-end augmentations and looks far more metallic as a result.
Augmentation: Arm Augmentation - Magnetic
Perks: Come Fly With Me & Of Steel and Lead
Location: Izuru
Biography: Born and raised on the Eastern side of the Wall of Lights. Hattori is a native to Izuru and has never ventured away from the kingdom. His parents were a part of Izuru's middle class and Hattori received a decent-enough education. Though Hattori made it through high school, there wasn't enough money around for him to both move out of his parents' home and receive a college education. For a brief amount of time, Hattori worked as a bartender, often sleeping at the bar to be away from his family. His time in this occupation was short-lived, as he soon overheard of an underground fight club. He was quick to decide that being around the smell of blood and sweat would be more fulfilling and entertaining than being around the smell of drink and tears.
Hattori found himself to be a natural fighter, though he improved his ability through artificial means, namely by replacing his left arm with one of metal. As he fought on, more people began to bet their money on him, and more money ended up in his wallet a result. Soon, he had the finances to buy an apartment and quit his job as a bartender.
Like bartending, fighting soon lost its fun. Hattori wanted to do something more interesting in his life. He found inspiration in the comic books he read, and decided to mimic a favorite hero of his by trying to work as a private detective. For a time after his decision, he continued to fight until he had the money he needed. He bought an office just off the side of one of Izuru's waterways, then opened up for business after mounting a red neon sign at the front of his office that reads "Hattori's Detective Services." His first clients came in, not because of his prowess in the job, but because of his cheap rates. With no education or experience, Hattori relied on his intuition to solve his first several cases. He was sloppy, clumsy, and slow at first. But as time went on, his ability grew, as did the amount he charged people to hire him.
Some years later, Hattori still owns the same shabby office that's in need of some renovating. Though, his business is fairly prosperous nonetheless, and he makes enough money for food, shelter, and a few things in the way of luxury. He works alone at the moment, but may need to hire some people in the future to help with keeping things clean and papers filed around his office. Or maybe he just needs a bit of company to liven the place up. |

| (Hattori is his first name, Aisaka is his last name. I used that naming convention because, while Izuru is like Japan, it doesn't adopt all the cultural traits of Japan.) |

Oooh, this is gonna be hosted by someone who probably won't abandon it and that I like? I shall consider making my CS, considering that most of the other RPs I'm in are somewhat dead.
I shall be a scavenger of war artifacts from before the Wall of Lights was constructed, in Floris, delving into old ruins to face probably very dangerous and still active machines that guard the place and prevent most from simply taking whatever they want. |

Character Sheet: Name: Averand Rusk
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Occupation: Scavenger
Appearance: Averand looks very average, even less than average. He's thin and lithe, on the edge between a healthy diet and starving. An almost average 5'7 at height and looking even younger than his actual age, he might actually draw attention as to how average he is. A thin beard and mustache grow around his face, as though he shaves only when he gets his hands on a razor(which is probably true). His hair is a dark brown, scraggly going back but kept relatively clean and tidy up near the front, short and somewhat uneven. Keeping in with the averageness, his eyes are a woody brown.
Some details give him some outside character. Matching scars, one on his right cheek and the other on his right wrist, thin and straight as though from a knife. His hands are never still, always fidgeting or digging through the pockets of his vest looking for a metal twine or a piece of string that he can weave around his fingers and then unwind. Averand wears lots of black, to better blend in with the shadows cast by the bright lights of the cities. His usual garb for going out is dark pants and shirt, a black vest with lots of pockets in which he can store scrap and handheld devices, and tough work shoes.
Augmentation: Night-vision Overlay
Perks: The War Economy + Forged in Shadow
Location (Floris or Izuru): Floris
Biography (optional): Growing up without parents was hard. Before he was born, Averand's father was murdered by one of the local gangs and his mother moved far away, close to the Wall of Lights. When Averand was five, another gang invaded their small apartment and killed everyone. He hid, watching helplessly as his mother was taken, abused, and then her throat was slit. After they left, he had to flee the building. On his own, he had nowhere to go, so he ended up going back to the apartment and living their with the rotting bodies for days, avoiding the police and investigators who came to look over the damage and tally the body count, and the people who came to clean house of the squatters that had moved in. Averand was still small enough to hide and avoid their detection, and once again was the only survivor. This place wasn't safe, and still young, he moved out to look for something else.
Apparently, he found care somewhere, with someone who taught him the streets, or maybe he just watched overs and learned where to go for food, where to find clean(ish) water, and so on. Either way, he joined the ranks of poor miscreants who were caught between the brutal life of the gangs and the iron fist of the police. No place to go, nobody to care for them, and no money to get help with, they were all on their own. Averand was able to escape this through one solution: Escape from the city to the desolate battlefields from before the Wall of Lights was constructed. There he can scavenge what he needs and sell anything that still works to any company that will take it. Sometimes scrap recycling, sometimes transporters who take stuff and distribute it to collectors who want a piece of the old war. Sometimes, even, when he finds a working piece he can sell it to an arms company for a tidy profit. All of this is enough to keep him going, if barely. Good finds are few and far between.
Other: As a scavenger, Averand's job will be dangerous, either because the only sites with anything other than useless scrap are those guarded by rogue war machines, which have to be evaded or destroyed, or because some of his dealings, especially for useful technology that other companies might not want or pay as much for, is with underworld gangs who would kill him for any reason whatsoever.
I did almost all of this yesterday, but was too lazy to finish and post it until today. I probably could have put more work in, but no ideas spring to mind and I'm tired from lack of sleep. |
