The human race; greedy, ambitious, petty, and hateful of the unknown, had finally developed spacecraft capable of FTL travel. They began exploring the stars to find suitable worlds to colonize to relieve the strain on their home world of earth that was boasting a population of ten billion people. Soon enough the human race had a small empire among the stars. When beacons to communicate between between the colonies were set up they unknowingly placed a beacon on themselves for other races to find them.

In the year 2345 a small flotilla of alien spacecraft appeared at the edge of human space and of course the humans doing what humans do best attacked and their fleet was destroyed. With this small battle a war had begun between the United Earth Government and the empire of Avian humanoids called the Alkavir Union. The war dragged on as the humans finally got their tech to a standard as to give the Alkavir a challenge. In the year 2467 a peace was settled after multiple human and Alkavir worlds were devastated. Later that year the UEG and AU along with another spacefaring species of Reptiles formed the USS or United Space States. With the three combined their empires grew massive each giving support to another against outward enemies and raiders.

This was not to last as the citizens of the UEG began to once again hate and distrust their allies a seperate entity formed and began an event called the Humanity Rebellion. Hundreds of core and colonial worlds seceded from the UEG and declared war on all three states. At first the human rebels were losing against the overwhelming numbers of the USS but foreign empires took advantage and began their own attacks. For twenty three years the Humanity Rebellion lasted until at last the USS, AU, UEG, and the Salkavir empires collapsed.

Now in the year 2897 a two new human empire one calling themselves the Terran Republic led by democratic government has and the other called the Galactic Roman Empire led by an emperor have risen. This rekindling of a human empire has every empire threatened knowing humanity's capacity for destruction. New empires form and old ones fall or struggle on the life of a Stellar Empire is always threatened, now it is your time.

Empire CS:
Empire Name: Teraxilan Ascendancy
Leaders Name: Palus the Enlightened
Form of government: Military Dictatorship(benevolent)
Planets: Traxis, Inashor, and Syhelia serve as the seat of government, with extensive military and industrial manufacturing power centered around those three planets. These core worlds lie in the middle of the expansive and perilous Teraxilan badlands, a series of nebulae, black holes, highly irradiating pulsar stars, and other stellar hazards.
Race(s):
Syhelians(90%)
Syhelians are a silicon based gaseous form of life. They are only capable of surviving in 'heavy' atmospheres similar to that of Venus. Their three home planets have been suitably terraformed in compliance with this necessity. Their ships also contain this atmospheric mix which is unbreathable to human and human-like species. Elsewhere they tend to use pressurized suits in mimicry of other races, generally humanoids. Syhelians tend towards pacifism though they show surprisingly aggressive spirit when competing with each other industrially.

Ascended(10%)
After coming into contact with the USS at the height of its twenty three year long rebellion, the Teraxilan Ascendancy became alarmed and began to seek a way to defend themselves. With their innately peaceful nature they quickly realized they could never hope to compete with the more numerous and more violent humans. As a result they dabbled into genetics, and using humans as their template, they made a warrior race of genetically and cybernetically augmented super-beings. These 'Ascended' as they came to be known outperformed the Syhelians in almost every way and quickly ousted the Traxilan Senate in a bloodless coup though not before the Syhelians destroyed all records of the creation process of the Ascended. This placed the Ascendancy at the precipice of civil war for more than a decade before more moderate leaders came to power. In exchange for genetic modifications that allowed the Ascended to naturally reproduce, the Syhelians were guaranteed their way of lives.

Leader CS:
Name: Palus the Enlightened
Age:34
items:Varied
Appearance: Palus is one of the more human looking of the Ascended standing at two meters tall with a muscular build. Clad in full black power armor to guard his life against numerous assassination attempts by resentful Ascended, it is rare to see his facial features. However they are rather angular and harsh with one dark brown eye and one that is a synthetic glowing blue thanks to cybernetic augmentation.
Other: Tech desc incoming tomorrow

So.... I'm guessing hundreds of planets aren't a thing for even the largest of factions...

Seeing as the admin-only and probably decently powerful faction has only 22 planets.

Empire CS;
Empire Name: Shrichiakchin Combined Hives

Leaders Name: Chitshakchin

Form of government: Insectoid hive structure. 93% of all Shri are drones of various types, 6% are Specialists, and the last 1% are Matriarchs and Primes, with the Overprime as the supreme ruler and Grand Matriarch as the second. Primes control the Hive they govern, through physical, psychological, and reproductive domination of the Matriarch, which birth all of the drones and Specialists(and sometimes new Primes or Matriarchs, though this happens rarely and such primes and matriarchs not birthed by the Grand Matriarch usually lead to the new young being killed, or used to lead a rebellion so that the controlling Prime becomes the new Overprime), with the Overprime issuing directives to the Primes and the Grand Matriarch birthing most of the Primes and Matriarchs. Thus, each Prime is loyal to their parent, the Overprime.

Planets: Shri-Chiazkin, the home planet. Shri-Chiazkin is in an unstable orbit, drifting like a comet close to the star and then further away, completing a full cycle in five years. While it never fully destroyed life on the planet, this affected everything, from the revolution cycle that varied between eight months to four years and could not be measured definitely until the introduction of spacefaring science. Before that, however, there were seasons based on the distance from the sun and the struggle of all life to overcome the ever-changing environment. When the cold came, mutations that had over-adapted to the heat died off, and when the heat came, mutations that had over-adapted to the cold died off as well. Thus, the Shri mutate rapidly, and seek to consume more DNA to better adapt to and survive their natural ecosystem.

There are also Thras-azkin, an important core world with numerous resources and shipyards. And Irsh-kin, a colony world which had been terraformed to be ideal for Shri life and is being prepared for use as a breeding world.

Race(s): Shrichiakchin(alternately pronounced and written as Shri)

Leader CS:
Name: Chitshakchin(Chit for the purposes of this CS. ICly, it would be among the highest of offenses to call him Chit.)

Age: 429

Items: Weapons: Uhm... the many thousands of Drones in his immediate vicinity? Also pretty much whatever technology is nearby... the Shri make a LOT of weapons and implements that can be used as weapons...

Appearance: Typical Prime, but bigger and more regal.

Other: Chit finds humans *delicious*. Now that the USS and UEG has fractured, individual human colonies may be raided constantly for food supplies. Said food supplies being humans.

Race description:

Shri are split into four categories of being, which specifies their position in the hierarchy. Drones are the lowest tier, and most of the Shri are Drones. They have no intelligence of their own, controlled through the will of the Matriarchs via hormones which can be received and reproduced at alarming levels, leading to near-instantaneous communication at short distances. Even with spacefaring tech, they are still used as communication relays in many hives. Save for mutations which are usually killed, almost all drones are infertile.

Next are the Specialists. They can receive commands through the hormones, but possess some intelligence of their own. Specialists are engineers, scientists, and so on, roles that cannot be delegated to the "grunt" drones. There is also a very special breed that is telepathically linked to the birthing Matriarch, and thus is used as ship captains or diplomats to relay orders from the leading Prime to the crew so that a Prime does not have to be present. Specialists are also usually somewhat larger than Drones, about two drones in length and three(stacked on top of each other horizontally, like normal standing posture) in height. Most Specialists are infertile, though there have been rare cases of Specialists producing another Specialist as offspring, though these are usually deformed and have drone-level intelligence with no will to direct it.

Next up are the Matriarchs, the female half of Shri leadership. Matriarchs are the largest type, and once they are fertile and have been claimed by a Prime, are almost always birthing Drones and Specialists. They have perfect free will of their own, but are biologically and sociologically conditioned to be little more than young producers and...

Primes are the last type, the male leadership, and are much larger than Drones and Specialists, only slightly smaller than Matriarchs. Once they are fertile, the used a combination of physical seizure and protectiveness to claim a Matriarch, then live with and direct the Matriarch constantly, in addition to barrages of hormones, so she is psychologically bound to him, and finally cause her to birth his offspring to finalize the claiming and binding.

Shri are variable in appearance, with their extremely high birth rate and the geological history of Shri-Chiazkin leading to each hive looking different, sometimes wildly so if comparing two hives on different planets. They all have internal skeletons and no exoskeleton, though chitin covers a large part of the front body and legs on all types. They also have a tendency to consume and incorporate useful DNA of other species into their own, which is then sometimes distributed to other hives and sometimes kept to the hive that took it.

However, most drones and specialists are hexapedal with four mandibles in front of their mouths, that click and clatter in their vocal language and are used as graspers. As drones are not intelligent enough to speak on their own, unless communicating to another race for a present Prime will not speak. Specialists speak rarely, usually when acting as diplomats. While Matriarchs and Primes are more restricted in their movement, drones and specialists usually have around a dozen joints in each leg, allowing them to move very freely, usually scurrying everywhere and able to climb over anything in their path.

Matriarchs are hexapedal, but do not have the mandibles and instead have rows of sharp teeth that they use for chewing food... and eating unwanted mutations. Matriarchs are often encased in a layer of fat from lots of food that they use to produce young.

Primes are hexapedal, but rather than a straight line of legs as all the others have, they have two back legs, two middle legs much further front, and two front legs that have dexterous grippers, and can be used to grab objects. They walk more upright, using their front legs both for walking and grabbing things which they can then bring up to inspect, or throw with the increased muscle density. Where Matriarchs are encased in fat, many Primes have hard, bony plates in their head and main body, making them formidable fighters on their own, in addition to being at least as tall as any full grown human(and usually larger, to a record of six times a full-grown human. Most hives on Shri-Chiazkin are more moderate at between two to three times a full grown human).

Most Shri, drones in particular, don't live a natural lifespan longer than 30-40 years. However, the Hive Matriarchs and Primes have been known to live for up to a thousand years if they are not forced to constantly adapt to a new environment.

The Shri have an unending hunger for new DNA, and this means consuming other species. If they colonize a world, within a few years at most it will be overrun with hives and most of the native wildlife and some of the plant life disappearing, being replaced by Shri organisms that fulfill the same roles, adapting to the new climates as easily as the Shri themselves. This leads to them being very aggressive in nature and extremely expansionist, viewing smaller and weaker starfaring races to be the best prey.

(Praise extremely weakened entities.)

Empire CS;
Empire Name: Realm of Lordran
Leaders Name: Gydias, allegedly, but he has not been seen since the beginning of the plague twenty years ago. Generally, Ambassador Cornyx and Lieutenant Schacht are seen as the 'leaders' of this post-plague scenario.
Form of government: Originally a Monarchy. Current government is unknown due to the almost entire dissolution of normality.
Planets: Oceiros, the homeworld of the 'Realm' is currently the only planet in it's sphere of influence which retains any sense of order. The other planets, Woln, Sulyvhan and Iudex are all in varying levels of decay and rebellion. These four planets all lie in the same solar system, which is rather unremarkable besides an abnormal amount of asteroid fields.

Oceiros was originally a lush, vibrant planet with many different biomes but is now dominated by huge cities connected via towering bridges with barely any natural greenery in sight, likewise, lakes and oceans are artifical. However, this planet is not prosperous and besides the main city, Yherl (which only remains prosperous due to being isolated from the rest of the planet.) The once marvellous cityscapes are crippled by infighting, an unnatural plague and extremist cults eradicating any seen inflicted with the illness. Factories pump out black smog into the atmosphere and once glistening skyscrapers are tattered and gutted. Most people who lived outside of Yherl are either dead, afflicted or simply hiding in small residual communities within their once glorious homes.

Yherl is the sprawling megapolis that has the remaining 'Lords' and humans of Oceiros and easily holds hundreds of thousands within it's wide walls. Yherl is the holy city of the Realm and the only real city still standing. With a total of fifty two breaches being made by the crazed afflicted, areas of the city are cordoned off entirely and filled with innumerate military forces who fight and die everyday to ensure the breach does not widen.

Inside Yherl, the last safe-haven of Oceiros is the Hall of Lords -- a sprawling megafortress which holds the divine beings known only by the normal inhabitants of Yherl as Lords. Inside the Hall of Lords allegedly lies Agrias, The King's Court. Agrias once attended to thousands of visitors, but now it lies empty besides the shadows of the 'Lords' parading silently.

The Realm of Gods is a rumored city from which the Lords hail, but none have ever seen it and it is largely believed to be wishful thinking.

Woln is an largely mountainous planet with grasslands rarely seen. The budding colonies on the surface are hardly thriving, for they are too afflicted with the plague, but their lower density allows them to mitigate it more than those lost on Oceiros. Dangerous animals attack the colonies sporadically and so even the colonists are stretched and paniced.

A total of 142 colonies dot the surface of Woln, and around half of that is either lost or afflicted. Four of these colonies eventually combined seventeen years into the outbreak and now contribute a huge amunt of raw resources to Yherl -- to an extent that if it's support was to be withdrawn the people would starve. The magistrate and court of this combined colony know this, and use it as a bargaining chip to get the best of what they can get.

The Four Colonies are located in a rough cross-shape, with the real colonies being at the heart of the cross where it all meets together and all the other parts of the cross being a long tunnel filled with military forces ready to repel afflicted. The North Tunnel was infamously overrun by afflicted and therefore destroyed. The head of the Four Colonies is the Magistrate and his Court and they operate almost entirely automonously from the Realm -- enforcing a strict curfew and military lockdown. Mandatory checkups for signs of affliction are made, and if anyone is found to be afflicted the entirety of their family line is imprisoned.

Sulvyahn, an icy planet which ironically is still thriving compared to its cousins -- it's colonies are thriving and the only real issue is food. Most of it's exports are raw materials used to equip the military and give the bare necessities to the remaining citizens.

Iudex, the second planet colonized is practically in ruins, just like Oceiros - it's cities are in ruins. Unlike Oceiros, natural landmasses are still visible. All law and order on Iudex is practically destroyed, with only various forts to protect the Governor and themselves. The plague, along with innumerable afflicted dominate the planet and most colonists on the planet are dead or apart of the afflicted.

The Bastion of Giants is the Governor's 'fortress' on the surface of Iudex, reputedly guarded by a powerful Lord who towers over even the average Lord. This Lord is noted to be afflicted with the plague, but remarkably remains his sanity and protects the gate day and night, using the plague's own strength against itself. Past the main gate lies the Old Home and the Barracks of Kings. The Old Home originally housed what was left of the civilain populace, but they have since died of malnourishment and neglect. The Barracks of Kings holds the twenty five Lords assigned to protect Cerah, the governor of the planet. The remaining members of the human garrison remain at their posts, ever fearful that the afflicted will make their way in. Near the peak, near the Governor's last hold is the substantial pad which allows the dropships from Yherl to deposit their supplies. Cerah, inside his last hold only continues to live due to his status as a 'Lord.'
Race(s):

95% Human, the humans of Oceiros are a deprived people with little calling or hope and many are of a generally negative attitude with a bitter outlook on life. Most of this number are settled in the last city of Oceiros, Yherl. However, there are contingents that live outside in the colonies of Sulyvhan or Woln. Numbers on Iudex are speculated at best. ..(Or Terrans if you really don't want me calling them that.)

5% 'Lords'. Superior in everyway to the average human and towering at eight feet with impressive strength, speed and intelligence even at the lowest echeleons. Generally seen clad in gleaming armor with little to no practicality except to belly an impressive defensive capability. The majority of the Lords at this time, twenty years into the plague serve in the military as high level professional soldiers with their own unique equipment and vehicles or as ambassadors and commanders.

Afflicted (Not a race of the faction, persae, but they're prominent throughout the realm for they control most of it)Characterised by red eyes, necrosis -- the plague bearing afflicted kill anyone who is not tainted, as through their own diseased eyes, the clean are the infected. Notoriously violent, they control almost the entirety of Iudex's cityscape alongside Oceiros. Notable outbreaks of the Afflicted on Woln are numerous, but never seem to escalate to a level where they destroy the colonies. (This is just as well, as the frightened colonists of Woln supply the majority of food to Yherl on Oceiros.) Afflicted are generally more fragile, but are most often reputed to be physically stronger than a human. Critical damage to the physical form of an Afflicted can result in all sorts of mutations in the form of another animal that greatly increases their danger level. Entire vehicles can be seen with this black mist coating them, reinforcing them and making them a larger danger than anyone else.

Military of the Realm

Originally bearing a feudalistic approach to equipping their military, the mass death of the former 'nobles' has forced a radical change of mediocre troops and vehicles meant to hold the line of Yherl's walls. The mass rank and file of the military, plain and ordinary humans serve with antiquated armor remiscient of their older days - with helmets more akin to primitive morions of the medieval times.

Dark purple scarfs with white outlines are wrapped around their necks in many occassions. Little to no camoflauge is common, as they mostly fight in the damaged and decaying ruins of the original defenses. Many fatigues are a drab gray, for it is the easiest to produce in large quantities. However, the fatigues are regularly torn at their ankles and elbows and replaced with warped cloth of mouldy browns and whites. A chestplate of a molten brown coloration with the crest of the Realm emblazoned on it provides the majorty of the protection. The armor is akin to chainmail, but is in actuality the only remnant of the advanced armoring technique developed to replace primitive kevlar and ceramic. However, at this time, the vest which drapes to their thighs and elbows are of poor quality. Protective armor is simple and worksmanlike. The soldiers, originally equipped to a supreme standard now rely on their luck and numbers to hold the ever thinning wall from the plague. Vehicles are known of, but are rarely seen besides generic armored personal carriers and infantry fighting vehicles.

In contrast, the remaining 'Lords' at the Hall of Lords and several integral places in Yherl have perfected equipment allowing them to hold off any intrusions for prolonged periods of times with glistening vehicles. At Breach 48, large amounts of dead 'Lords' and their vehicles battle against their corrupted brethren -- an endless battle that proves that even they are susceptible to the plague.

Navy of the Realm

The ships of Yherl are ancient and obsolete, daily maintenance barely keeps the weaponry afloat from malfunctioning and disrepair. The headship, a Battleship called "The Guardian of Yherl" is the youngest, most up-to-date ship, and yet it would flounder even against the most meagre of enemy ships. Most of the 'fleet' remain stationed over Yherl, with a large subsection patrolling Iudex to prevent contaminant leak. Ships can be seen guarding Sulyvhan and Woln, but these mostly only appear to collect food resources to send to Yherl or saturating an afflicted colony. Indeed, it is largely quoted that the Navy is better at orbital bombardment than they are at naval fighting.

Leader CS:
Name: Gydias
Age: 581
Race: 'Lord'
items: Various biomechanical upgrades which could be viewed to the uninformed as 'magical.'
Appearance: Gydias is an elderly lord who stands at around twelve foot with an wellcropped and elegant beard. (ry.) He commonly wears his royal attire, which is a pale dark blue with golden embroidery. Many golden rings dot his hands along with a gloriously luxurious crown with all types of emeralds embedded into it. Overall, Gydias has a very lordly and authoritative presence.. if only he was still seen today?
Other: Gydias will not be seen throughout the RP. He is more or less a figure of hope in these times but it is known that he was alive at some point.

The other two characters that will be seen as 'leaders' are Ambassador Corynx and Lieutenant Schacht.

(Yes.. Dark Souls references everywhere.. everywhere..
It's just a giant dark souls reference.)

(..Plus we need some more grimdark togo with those horde races.)
