Ok, so recently roblox has removed tickets and this has generated alot of hate/hate hate on the forum. Here is just my opinion on the issue (Note: if this is out of place, my bad. I don't know where to post it. If you guys know please be kind enough to direct me to the correct place. Thanks)
In real-life economics, there is supply and demand. The supply refers to the amount of goods and services available on the market, whereas demand refers to the needs and purchasing power of the customers. These 2 factors are interconnected, when supply increases but demand decreases (i.e. there is an excess of goods and services than market needs) prices drop dramatically. If the vice versa happens (supply decreases but demand increases), then the prices skyrockets. But what determines the "demand" factor?
The demand is determined by a lot of factors. One factor, it is determined by the needs of the consumer (or customers for you kids out there). For example, a new game has come out but requires a unique platform to operate on. If people want to play said game, then people will have to buy this "unique platform". This causes the demand for the particular platform to increase. Another factor is the purchasing power of the consumers. Simply translated: the ability for one to buy certain goods and services. Usually this means a person's salary or how much money he has on that particular time. For instance, a man has $400 in his bank account (just an example I made up. This does not, in any way, resembles a real-life situation) and a train ticket only costs $125. This means that, if he really wants to, this man can easily buy said train ticket.
So how does this all apply to roblox? If we translate these real life instances into roblox equivalents, we get roughly this. Supply in roblox means the amount of buyable items sold in the catalog (goods) and the various game passes that we see sold everywhere (services). Demand can roughly be translated into the amount of Robux and (formerly) tickets we have in our accounts and the incentive to use them. For example, there is this new shirt available for sale (supply) and it looks really cool! This makes people who can afford to buy it (demand) to buy it.
However, as stated before, demand does depend on (quite litterly) how much money you can afford to spend. But how much can you afford to spend? Well that depends on your income. Most Robloxians' income comes from getting free daily tickets. These tickets are then traded for robux, and then used to buy Catalog items and/or gamepasses. But when you remove this main source of income (tickets), you also remove the purchasing power of the common Robloxian. This, in turn, effects the demand of Robloxians as they suddenly find themselves unable, or can't afford to, buy stuff. Even if game/clothe developers don't realize it yet, they had just lost a lot of potential customers because suddenly, demand for their game passes and catalog items has dropped MASSIVELY.
Yet, there are some people who will, and has argued, that "If you want Robux, go buy them with real money". To which, I counter: Do I look rich? I'm just a 16 year old kid who works at a part-time job (I won't tell you what type of job, have some privacy respect people) that barely covers the cost of my pocket money, let alone Robux packages. To which some people will counter-back: "Then go ask your parents to buy the packages for you" in which, if possible, I slap them in the face and say: "And how much real money do my parents have to shell out?" This goes for everyone else. Money isn't infinite. There are limits to how much can one spend. Hell even BC membership only offers monthly and yearly membership. This means that every month and every year, you need to renew your membership. Which roughly translates into: more money needs to be paid.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I know it's long but I think it needs to be to cover every issue that is present. |

| Hey guys, if you don't like the post because of its length then please don't comment "TL;DR" on it, because that's quite rude. Thanks. |

@Url How is that rude? I actually meant it, not in a sarcastic way. It was like reading a novel. |

Well like I said, I wanted to cover every issue possible. I don't want any idiots reading just the summary at the end and getting the wrong message (lol). However, for some unknown reason, I like to compose long essays :3

We are removing ROBLOX for a number of reasons. Although familiar to many of us, they are confusing to first-time users. We believe removing ROBLOX will simplify our product in all areas, from the UI to the catalog to user-accounting.
We have many things in store for the majority of players who do not want to become involved with ROBLOX. In the catalog, we intend to provide more paid items, so that avatar customization without ROBLOX continues to be creative and rich. Today, we have introduced two expensive packages for your character. Going forward, we will feature the work of top shareholders in the community as we migrate to a fully community driven catalog.
There will no longer be any ROBLOX. As our platform has matured, we believe the reason to come to ROBLOX should be the desire to experience incredible hats with your friends. We do not want to incentivize people to “have fun” every day.
For our deeply engaged users we want to be able to provide more valuable things that are not directly tied to login. While we are going through this 30 day removal, we will be making each part of ROBLOX unavailable until complete shutdown. We will be announcing these craziness tomorrow on the blog.
There is another benefit to removing ROBLOX, and that is it removes the incentive to create alt accounts. We don’t believe it makes sense to provide more fun from having multiple accounts, as this drives behavior that is not at the core of ROBLOX.
The impetus behind removing ROBLOX is to make more money. We need money and you poor kids gonna pay for us more until we shut down the ROBLOX.
For those of you who are clothing developers, we believe that over time you will have a richer opportunity as we expand our catalog to a next generation avatar. We will be lowering the ROBLOX to the basic on hats and pants to help increase the volume of sales of these items for our shareholders. We have a roadmap for the future of people on ROBLOX, and as these new features are taken down, new opportunities for clothing designers will follow, making the catalog more large and low quality.
Users will have 30 days to remove their ROBLOX account, or to trade them using our account trading system. In addition, ROBLOX will be awarding bans over the next couple weeks. By completing tasks on ROBLOX, namely playing and creating, you will earn virtual tears. |
