Women and men get payed EQUALLY, whoever says they dont needs to do more research. All feminism is cancer considering the fact that women and men are already equal. Also, this is you: https://youtu.be/BY1H1rZL53I

This is offensive, and you need to apologize to every girl here who is being degraded and dehumanized by this. You need to realize your privilege and stop

NO THEY DO NOT, I JUST EXPLAINED THIS.

As far as I know on the subject of the [wage gap], there’s still 5-7% gap that hasn’t been completely or willingly explained by any of the peer-reviewed research that’s been done on the subject.

The only way you could possibly claim the [wage gap] isn't a thing is if you ignore literally all of peer-reviewed research done on it, because there has been no well off answer as to what causes this remaining 5-7% gap. Anyone who says the wage gap is nonexistant is saying that this remaining gap is also a lie, which is undoubtedly false. It does exist, and all the available data confirms this. We just don’t know exactly what the reasons for it are, we can only hypothesize by extrapolating based on studies about workplace discrimination, gender differences in pay negotiations, and the motherhood penalty.

The point is, when people come from disadvantaged groups face disproportionate levels of prejudice and systemic inequality (not due to being inferior, but because of complex stations of social interactions), that deserves to be focused on even more. People who think making broad-brush appeals to equality will solve problems but resist efforts to focus on certain demographics in the specific, incorrectly thinking doing so is considered a “double standard”.

***The 5-7% cent gap is not a gap in earnings: it’s a normalized gap that controls for the differences in occupation, hours worked, etc.*** In fact, if you break it even further and compare the normalized gap within each individual job field, women still face a disadvantage in every field of occupation, not surprisingly. I suppose acknowledging that this is actually actually problem is considered “authoritarian” somehow.

Now, I've got some links ready, and before someone goes up in arms about how they “generalize all companies”, this is how statistical averages work. That’s the only way it would be possible to measure if women were on average earning less money despite having the same years of experience, education, skills and responsibilities, time in the workforce, etc. in comparison to their male counterparts. Measuring differences within every individual company would be far beyond what can simply be done by research, and that would be demanding that it be held to an impossible standard. This is actually the fourth trait of science known as denialism, which is setting the bar ridiculously high so that you can reject it when it doesn’t conform to your worldview.(Not uncommon around anywhere, really.)

An example would be promoting the idea that you can just “go to work where you get money”. The mindset is so ridiculous that I can’t help but think that people who have said this never had to work a job in their entire life, or just like to hold their worldview over others. People are often unable to work at the most high-paying job available to their set of skills because of circumstances outside of their control. I could arguably make a slightly larger wage by working in a populated city in another state, for example, where the but pay is generally higher. The problem is that I can’t afford to actually move to said state.(I've said this one a few times.)

What about pay negotiation? Well, that’s something that people bringing up the [wage gap] have been talking about for quite a long time now. I've got another source for that, if it's wanted.

See, the real issue is here is that it’s a HUGE oversimplification to lay the blame solely on women, as the article notes, women are generally seen as greedy for when trying to negotiate in business while men aren’t, and suggests avoiding this by re-framing negotiations from a competition to a collaborative problem-solving effort. While women can negotiate as well as men, they have to behave differently to be get the best results. This definitely implies that there’s an issue of cultural gender stereotypes that influence perceptions of negotiators.

Finally, attributing all of the remaining gap to merely the result of negotiation is ludicrous when there is decades of research showing evidence of gender bias(often times unconscious) disadvantaging women in male-dominated fields. There's a 2014 meta-analysis of gender stereotypes and bias in workplace decisions analyzed the research that’s been done so far and found a consistent pattern of gender bias against women in male-dominated fields. I've got the source for that, too, of course. I've got your reports, mate.
