It's necessary to reward developers in a way that doesn't require taking the player's money.
Before ROBLOX removed tickets, they did remove place visit revenue. For nearly a month people debated whether or not tickets should be removed and the main argument in favor of having only ROBUX was the fabricated claim that they'll add new ways for non-Builders Club users to get ROBUX.
While they haven't added new ways for base level players to earn ROBUX, they HAVE REMOVED ways for small developers to earn anything.
To those of you who are not familiar with the AdService, here is how it worked:
* A developer can write a script to show mobile ads in their game. * When these ads are viewed by a user, the developer earns .5 ROBUX (in other words, whether it's 1 or 2 ads shown in a day, you earn 1 ROBUX) * After an ad is viewed, the developer will earn nothing for three days before receiving the revenue. * This revenue is tracked; abusing, botting, or exploiting the feature results in your account being moderates, forever being ineligible for using the Developer Exchange, and all ROBUX will be removed from your account. There's also limitations on ads being shown. * User must be from a mobile device and not on a desktop. * User must not have any form of Builders Club or premium membership. * User must not be a guest. * User must not have viewed more than 5 advertisements within the last hour.
You can't really make much money with it, if you try to abuse it you'll lose everything. It was sort of a way to counteract loss of place visit revenue in a way that not only is safe from abuse but also helps ROBLOX make money.
Since I joined this website I've made R$139 total - that includes both place visit revenue and AdService revenue. Even if you get visits from all supported devices on a daily basis, you can't make much off of this.
This service also was an incentive for: * the developer making their games mobile compatible * the developer sponsoring on a variety of devices * the developer not relying solely on game passes * the developer paying money for builders club or robux to fund sponsors & advertisements * the user buying builders club to not see ads anymore
In addition, ROBLOX undoubtedly made money off of this - the ads being shown are third party ads, they're 30 second commercials.
As of a few days ago, AdService is off. The "AdService" page on the Wiki has been removed and replaced with "API Class AdService" which only mentions showing commercials and mentions nothing of the incentive for a developer to make ROBUX without charging the players.
Summary of what I'm trying to say: Please return the AdService and stop making it harder for small developers to fund advertisements. |

I didn't know they disabled this. But then again, I'm not surprised.
Nicely-written article, and thanks for taking the time. I support. |

@Robloxia
I have considered doing that but I'm not sure if I should. Even had I funded mobile sponsors to get more mobile users, if I cannot earn back any ROBUX from mobile users viewing ads, I would simply be throwing my money away.

Bump.
For clarification before any confusion may happen, by "in a way that doesn't require taking the player's money" I am referring to developers profiting from players without the players needing to buy game passes.
The reason I suggest this is because "pay to win" games are currently the only option for a "successful" project to fund itself and have potential to grow.
While buying builders club and ROBUX is an option, earning back that money seems impossible when payment is solely through game passes and developer products since users are more likely to buy game passes at popular games where they are already guaranteed to have a server full of players to show off the effects of their game pass. (This is generalizing the majority of game passes because multiplayer games are by far the most created, played, and profitable games.)
For this reason, the already difficult process of gaining traction on a new game is made significantly harder by removing a viable way to earn money from making games that players enjoy without requiring players to spend any money. |

Bump.
I almost forgot in my original post.
There had actually been a LOT of restrictions on who may view an advertisement. I almost forgot that if the player is under 13 years of age then they won't see an ad.
Even before they removed it they were trying hard to restrict the amount of profit that developers can make from it.

Heres my insight on this:
People who are NBC should get only 1 Robux a day, if people are getting to much robux a day whats the point of buying robux? Roblox woln't make any profit also for BC, because if the BC are just doing it for the Robux they will stop!

@Epic
I believe that daily currency for logging in doesn't need to exist but isn't a bad thing, but there certainly needs to be currency awarded to developers when their games are being played.
On a platform fueled by developers, there needs to be an incentive to keep creating a game that's fun to play. If it is reliant on whether or not users buy game passes and developer products, then to buy ROBUX and Builders Club would be wasting money as there is no chance of earning it back unless you're already a successful developer.

I recall being excited by having players in my game for the first time. Gaining a small amount of tickets every day because people enjoyed what I created was motivating.
Seeing in "Developer Stats" how many of my players use tablets and phones I realized that the AdService was a great alternative once tickets were entirely removed.
It seemed like gaining 1-2 ROBUX in a day meant that as long as I keep my game updated and engaging then eventually I could advertise, and if I could advertise then I could watch my total amount of players grow. The system was set up in a way that allows so much room for improvement. It seemed like anyone had the ability to make a game and get people to play it so long as we try to make it a good game that people like to play.
This even acted as an incentive for buying BC. I had even thought about buying a ROBLOX card and seeing if I could use it to increase my amount of active users. Now, it doesn't matter whether I have 0 players or 700 players at once, I cannot earn anything.
I would like to feel a sense of achievement by getting people to play - NOT by getting people to pay. |

Oh, that explains it. Was making R$20 a day, but since then I've only made R$3 or so somehow.
Really I'm certain that this update ROBLOX did further emphasizes their removal of robux. If games can only profit from monetizing everything (such as all those annoying mobile games on iOS and Android), then users are forced to buy BC. In the long run, quality of games will decrease and NBC will be strained to buy BC.

| Support. Small developers, like me, literally now have no way to make anything from their game ever since tix got removed. If you're NBC, it's extremely hard to get money for ads, and then that means no one buys your items from the developer store. Roblox is taking away so many things from us, and now without AdService, it's basically just making games that no one will play, and you get no profit from either. |

| I'm going to keep bumping till a moderator sees this! WE WANT SMALL DEVELOPERS PROFIT D: people have no way to get our business going unless, this where Roblox traps us, we pay tons of money to advertise our group. Roblox I know this game is meant for a fun gaming experience,and trust me it has been, but forcing small developers isn't quite right. |
