it'd take a bit longer for diabetic nerve damage to set in, and it'd most likely affect all phalanges
is there any bruising and have you hit it against something recently?

lol those are not the only three things
diabetic neuropathy (which is nerve damage)
degenerative disease (that'd be rare)
fracture (yes it can be numb while still allowing movement)
non-degenerative disease
etc.

are you a vegan/vegetarian and are you tired often?
also, how much of the following foods do you eat: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products
(my idea turned into a hunch)

okay that's probably just being a teenager, i'm also always hungry and tired
if you don't get really tired after not eating for a while (i'd imagine it'd be really bad after swimming) then i'm gonna say you don't have diabetes
obv i can't be 100% sure but for all intents and purposes i'm ruling that out
is there any numbing at all on your ring finger, or is it contained exclusively to the pinky?

ahaha i'm kidding it's cancer

there's numbness in the hand portion of my ring finger, if that makes sense
but my ring finger itself is not numb

okay so here's what i found out
the most likely issue that i can think of is a pinched nerve - specifically, the ulnar nerve, most likely pinched at the elbow
swimming can be a cause or aggravating thing, so you might have to stop swimming for a bit (you can wait on that until you see a doctor and have the issue confirmed and evaluated)
schedule a doctor's appointment - partially to make sure it's actually an ulnar nerve entrapment (i'm pretty sure it is, but since i'm not an MD i can't be sure) and also to get a prognosis
