I have this idea of a huuuuuge game on roblox. However, we all know that the engine has it's limits in performance, that's why I'm making my own terrain generator. It generates terrain as you move on and removes terrain that's no longer useful to you. But! it remembers the terrain that you just left, it just removes the part that causes lag, being the visual and physical part. I put this up once already, but now I'm back with a huge performance update, it's now literally 3 times better when it comes to performance and any computer should be able to take it now:

Let me know your thoughts on this! Remember that this is a small demo of it, I'll be making the terrain infinite. Right now it's only one island, I can add as much islands as I want, it won't cause more lag, there's just one island because I only need one island at this point :) |

Simple but nice, add biomes and different tree types to make it seem more natural.

Make the area you generate and degenerate while walking bigger =P It should not be visible for the player that its actually generating and that its not just viewdistance.

Thanks for replying! There are already more biomes available in the scripts. Not yet more trees though. The size of the area is going to be dependent on the power of your pc, right now it's locked on 500 studs, which is going to be the minimum size. I doubt that a lot of pc's will go over 1000 studs view distance because it's going to cause lag that way. However, the game that it's made for is going to be in first person, which makes that view distance less important. |
